Some of you may have memories of glorious Summer days on Nausett Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod. Nausett was one of the finest beaches on the Cape. Unfortunately it suffered severe erosion during the Nor'Easters last week. The concession stand - Liam's On Nausett Beach - suffered major damage and is unlikely to re-open. Liam's was a real landmark and famous for its onion rings. One of our most favorite activities was to go down to the beach on Summer evenings with our beach chairs and eat our fish 'n chips from Liams while sitting on the beach watching the waves or listening to the concerts in the adjacent bandstand.
No more, I fear.
The concrete structures in the pictures used to be completely buried in the sand dunes between Liam's and the beach. I remember when it was at least 100 yards from Liam's to the beach through the dunes.
Makes me sad.
Sounds very sad from what you have described.
Thank you for the photographs.
Nature eventually wins out. Bit unnerving though to realize leaching tanks were buried beneath your feet all those years.
climate change will be difficult on the cape as well as the other sand bars along the coast.
Storms will do that, unfortunately. It seems to be their way of reminding us that nature is still in charge. We go to Fort Myers Beach every winter for a few days, and it’s always interesting to see how the seascapes have changed due to the last big storm. The beach is hardly ever the same.

One of the disadvantages of oceanfront property.
thanks for the photos - used to hang out there in my youth, a very long time ago. unfortunately as climate change becomes more and more pronounced there will be more of this. some of Micronesia's islands are already permanently under water.
