I visit my son in Baltimore frequently; I a™m here right now. I never get tired of Monument Square and all of Mt Vernon where he lives. The library at Peabody is a fabulous photo shoot; note you canNot use a tripod. I took these yesterday on my phone. (Left the cameras at home on purpose). The churches just in the neighborhood are varied and beautiful. The art museums are fantastic too. Enjoy!

Inner Harbor is quite nice and Little Italy has some great restaurants.
I used to go to the Washington Monument area when my son visited
the Peabody and that area can be a little dicey. But just North is The
Baltimore Fine Arts Museum which is very interesting as is the Walters
Art Museum which is downtown. There will be great photo ops; just
be careful. Especially at night.

About Mt Vernon, where Peabody is located: its one of the safest neighborhoods in the city.

A great place just north of Baltimore is the Loch Raven watershed. Great photo ops and dangerous. Be careful in Federal Hill. I used to frequent alot of those areas bit not any more. However it's more likely your car would be broken into that getting mugged. Fort McHenry is nice too.

I go to Baltimore quite often as I live in Gettysburg. Fells Point Bertha's Mussels great places to eat in little Italy and the inter harbor. I mainly use the cabs to get around the city or the water taxi to go to Fells Point. I have enjoyed many a New Years in the inter harbor with my better half. Baltimore is a great place to spend the day.

OK, we get it. Your hatred and bigotry are noted.

The area from Federal Hill through the Inner Harbour east to Canton is as safe as any city and offers lots of photo opportunities. You could spend a day just shooting in Fells Point and the water taxi offers more great views. For a true B’more experience, try the Cat’s Eye Cafe any evening.

The inner harbor is a nice place but think you can cover most of it in a day with the exception of all the restraurants. I will be heading that way in late April myself but getting out of town and visiting the Blackwater wildlife refuge for birding.

There is plenty to see and fabulous restaurants I have suggested some with in a family budget

Email these guys http://www.baltimorecameraclub.org/index.html they are very nice and have a great list of little know places to shoot in Baltimore.
You might also call Service Photo 410 235 6200 ask one of their people for suggestions too.

Baltimore is a great city......off the top of my head
Hamden (really really great food there too!!!), Elliott City, Cliburn Park is better than Druid Hill. Patterson Park has a great Pagoda, Evergreen House http://www.museums.jhu.edu/evergreen.php.
We have a nice Zoo and many many GREAT Museums BMA, Walters, Visionary Arts Museum is cool, weird and fun

Best Pizzas matthewspizza.com/
It's crappy location near Patterson Park and the pies made with Lard ;-) its amazing and so Baltimore

The Harbor is not the best place for food ....its a little touristy
Try G&M https://gandmcrabcakes.com/ for sea food, good value and real Baltimore clientele not the best best Crab Cake but many folks like it.
Are you thinking of trying Steamed Crabs? Jimmies Seafood http://www.jimmysfamousseafood.com/ very local IMHO hard crabs are too expensive go for the crab cakes...less trouble.

My family and I like: https://pappascrabcakes.com/restaurants several locations family owned great food and one of the best Crab Cakes going

Hope this helps, Don't over pack don't look too much like a tourist and like every where else stay out of bad neighborhoods at night.
Yes we have bums with signs find something else to shoot its great city with a rich history don't shoot our poverty

Not near the harbor but worth the drive The Harryman House Restaurant http://www.harrymanhouse.com/

Make a plan and do some on line research
Hope this helps I'll watch this link if you have questions or need a more specific places to eat

If you’re a sports fan, Oriole Park at Camden Yards is a great baseball venue. Also the B&O train museum.

If you go to Fort Mc Henry go to the end of Hull St to the pier, it's a good shot across to Fells Pt and downtown Balto and a nice night time view. You can also get a water taxi from there to Fells Pt and other areas depending on the time of year and weather. Hull St is about 1/2 mile before the fort off of Fort Ave.

I am heading to Baltimore in early April and was seeking input into the best photo locations. I will be staying at the Sheraton Inner Harbor and have a list of places I have initially jotted down as potential candidates. So far (in no particular order) I have Graffiti Alley, the Washington Monument, Federal Hill @night overlooking the city, Patterson Park Pagoda, Upper Fells Point, Druid Park, and Top of the World - observation level. What am I missing or what should I take off the list? I am primarily interested in sunrise/sunset and night photography so that will be my main focus while there.

Also, any great seafood places in the Inner Harbor area?

Thank you for your input.

Consider the B&O train museum. Within walking distance from the inner harbor but still a bit of a trek www.borail.org . The inner harbor is a fairly safe place but be aware of your surroundings at all times. I have been there on a number of occasions and never had any problems but a quick glance at the news will tell you that there are issues - mostly involving tourists. Night photography is best done with a group in the city. Try to connect with a photography group in the area and see if there is interest in an organized outing.

The aquarium there is also worthwhile but not sure on the viability of photos there. I have never shot the displays there but always saw lots of people trying. I am sure you could get decent photos there if you have the skill-set that I lack ...

The flash of the gun muzzles may make interesting night photography.

If you’re shot stabbed or mugged, there are good hospitals just a short ambulance drive away.

You did not say how long you will be in the Baltimore area. I spent much of my childhood in Baltimore and visit there at least once a year. You must see the National Aquarium located in the Inner Harbor within easy walking distance of your hotel. You should also add Fort McHenry to your list. Also, I always place the B&O/C&O Railroad Museum high on my list. It is located a few miles from the Inner Harbor and occupies the only indoor roundhouse in the country and its surrounding yard. It contains one of the best collections of old railroad locomotives and rail equipment in existence including actual and full size reproductions of the earliest locomotives ever made. In 2003, its roof collapsed during a snowstorm and it was rebuilt better than ever.

I second the votes for Inner Harbor, Ft. McHenry, the aquarium, and Little Italy (for food -- much better than the restaurants in Inner Harbor). You can also get some good shots of the city on the boat ride out to Ft. McHenry, and inside the fort are replicas of the original structures and interiors that, depending on your interest, are good photo opportunities. Late afternoon sun can create some interesting light at Ft. McHenry, and some colorful flowers should be blooming in April. Be sure to take a tripod for night shots.
