I work overnights full-time in computer networking and attend university half-time in computer engineering so my free-time seems to be constantly getting encroached upon, but in my free-time, I enjoy camping and hiking. Recently, I purchased an inflatable canoe so I'm excited to start using that.
Nature and landscape photography probably give me the most enjoyment. The bulk of the photos I've taken with my Canon EOS Rebel XS have been while vacationing in mountains or forests. My two lenses are 58mm and 75-300mm zoom. I've been waiting for any hint of a sale to upgrade to a Rebel SL2. Comeon price-watch emails, what's taking so long?!
I look forward to learning a lot from you all, probably mostly just by lurking. I'm betting most of the questions I'll have are already answered on here somewhere but I figured I'll make an account now. Seeya around.
One of my favorite pictures from New York:
You might want to consider a Canon refurbished if that model is available on the Canon site. Canon gives a year warranty on refurbished.
Welcome...I'm from Iowa too.

Welcome and good luck with your university studies and full time work. Photography is a perfect companion to your hiking and outdoor activities. I enjoy going to Lock and Dam 14 in LeClaire Iowa to photograph Eagles.
Welcome! Looking forward to your posts and pictures. Happy shooting!
