It would be tough to take the horse out.
I would try to crop out or remove the pile of dung or whatever it is in the bottom right-hand corner.

Nice job of adding the horse. I think a horse of a different color would have been better. The horse’s head, being a solid very dark color, doesn’t show any details of the head.

I think that if you led the horse there, you would have had a composition a lot more acceptable. A roan, perhaps, as well. The horse would take a stance that would make sense to many.
My preference is for your pic #1. It is more pleasing in my opinion.

#1. I think if the horse was in the field behind the barn it would be fine but is dominate where it is, my eye goes right to it.

I like the 1st one the best....The horse looks like it was just dropped there. It look out of sync for the scene.

#1 ( the horse should be a bit smaller or farther from the barn).
