Hello Friends,
My subject is about the comfortability of camera straps and any suggestions for a solution to the following.
I have a standard factory neck strap from Canon. It came with the camera and is an 80D. I cannot seem to stay comfortable with the camera hanging on the strap for much time at all. This is due to many factors but mainly neck and shoulder problems and age. So I end up holding the camera in my right hand more than around my neck. It is more comfortable cross shoulder but the strap is not long enough and unusable in this configuration. Any recommendations on specific camera straps that might help an old guy out would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pat

#1 I would replace the stock strap with Op/Tec strap, I like the give to act as a shock absorber, also it's longer for cross body carry when desired
#2 I frequently wear a golf shirt and use the collar to help cushion the weight of the camera and lens
#3 like you I keep my hand on the camera ,I just don't like it swinging around
Hope these ideas help, Bob.

Loc: L. I., NY, Palm Beach Cty when it's cold.
I have an Optech neck strap and wrist strap.
Pro’s:
easy changeover system via quick release clips. Comfortable padding.
Con’s:
Cushion on neck strap is a bit wide.
Material can be very sweaty in hot weather.

this is a screen shot from the peak design site. It not only shows how the camera hangs, but how good it looks on this model. After much looking this one looked perfect for me and has proven to be so. Believe. This is a most refreshing change from all the grievances of the traditional strap short comings.
Op Tech sling strap ... get it.
You might consider also trying a wrist strap. Saw a pro using one shooting at a horse show and thought I would give it a try. I find them easy to use and little strain.
Pat, I've used Up Strap products for the last 15 years or so. They are a great company and definitely stand behind their products.

Best straps on the market at great prices! Their sling straps attach to the camera strap lugs where they were intended to attach. They are pliable, comfortable, and shock absorbing. AND they are totally made in the USA!
I have to agree and add that OpTech straps have lots of options that permit quick change from sling to neck and also offer hand strap options.
I too have the standard strap. I too hold the camera in my hand but I switch from hand to hand. It's very comfortable to do it that way.
OPTech is easily adjustable and does not cause me neck pain.
I also have problem with shoulder pain. I also carry my camera when I'm riding my bicycle. I use a Cotton Carrier, solved both problems.
I use Op/Tech straps on all of my camera bodies. They work well and are reasonably priced.

Like Tracy B, we have tried many different camera straps and now use Peak Design straps on all our cameras (Canon 7D MkII, Nikon P900 & a couple of compact cameras) & binoculars. Highly satisfied.
