That's not necessary true , there are different orders of Amish and their beliefs and types of equipment they use are different. Mennonites are higher order and they use tractors and some electricity, while the lower order do not. This also applies to houses and, barns and outbuildings.
I live in the Spencer / Homerville area and this is the Old Order . The houses and buildings are White or Red ,unless they buy an old English ( as they call us ) house or building. Some of the houses and buildings need painting but are usually in fair shape.
