Roche Rock and Lanyon Quoit.

Roche Rock is located in mid-Cornwall, UK, and apparently has been a Monk's cell, a hermitage and a housed a leper colony.

It's also involved in the legend of Tristan and Iseult.

It's a fascinating place, built on top of a large rock that has a precarious climb to get up to - even worse coming back!

I took this in HDR, to make the building stand out from the sky.

The other photos are of Lanyon Quoit, that was originally built with four uprights and was high enough for a horse and rider to pass under.
But about 200 years ago it all collapsed and was re-assembled with only three uprights, because the fourth was too badly damaged.
The engine house in the distance is known as Ding Dong Mine.

I took them in vivid, because it was pretty gloomy when I took them.

We are on the way to Cornwall in April. These are locations that I will visit based on your excellent photos. Lands End and a performance at the Minach theater are on our list. Thanks for sharing.

Hello there.

I'd give Land's End a miss, it's a tourist trap.

Although it's a lovely coastal walk from Land's End to nearby Sennen Cove, it's only a mile or so but superb coastal scenery and Sennen Cove is nice little village.

Feel free to email any ideas you might want about Cornwall.

I spent most of my working life operating coaches around the the county before I retired and I have an extensive knowledge of the county.

The cap stone, sometimes called the table top, is estimated to weigh around 12 tons and the whole structure was originally built over 3000 years ago.

Cornwall has many of these old relics that date from 3-5000 years ago.
