I would say, hold it under the faucet. BTW, why would you want to?

Photoshop and lightroom offer excellent watermark possibilities.

I use Lightroom to watermark photos I post in online forums and such, but do not watermark photos that I hang.

For what it's worth, watermarking an image does not secure it. As has been mentioned, Lightroom easily watermarks images as does Photoshop.

Bruce, what do you mean it does not secure it. Can it be removed by someone other than the one who watermarks it?

Any graphical or text watermark can be cropped out of a photograph. It may ruin the image, but they are stealing it and probably don't care.

The best defense is to use a dpi setting of 72 for any on line images, which will make a crappy print in large sizes.

You can also register your work with the Patent Office.

I use Lightroom for a standard watermark. Although it will not let me use an italic watermark. Wondering if there is a way to design a fancier watermark in Lightroom. Sorry to piggyback on your thread.

Every graphics/photo software has this capability, even my ancient version of Paintshop Pro.
If you don't have any of these tools, there is free software online that will do it. See
download.com and filehippo.com.
