Just got a G85 and uploaded RAW test shots to LR Classic. Upload was very slow and cranky - took three attempts, and LR crashed twice. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of solution?
More details would be helpful -
1) what computer brand?
2) what computer operating system?
3) Lightroom CC subscription or prior freestanding version?
4) how large was the RAW file?
5) were any other apps running in the background?
6) when was the last time you cleared your computer buffers?
Sorry, IMac, OS 10.13.3, prior freestanding LR 7.2, File=16MB x 202, Chrome & Safari running in background. Haven't cleared cache. Thanks for your help.
Don’t know if your prior freestanding version of LR works with High Sierra OS (other UHH members may respond).
Try closing applications running in the background while you import.
Clear the memory cache on your computer.
Shoot a few more test shots.
If these two suggestions do not result in improvement, contact Abobe.
Just a detail observation: I am running Mac OS 10.12.6 on my Mac Mini, which says there are no updates available for it when I check. Do Imacs get different OS software? Also, I'm running standalone LR and the latest (last) version is 6.14.
I just updated to LR version 7.2. That worked, but it was very slow doing the import.

If you have a mid-2010 Mac Mini or later, it can run Mac OS 10.13.3 with all updates. (I have one.) iMacs use the same OS. There are differences in the graphics processors' capabilities. A few of the features of Adobe products will not run on the Mini, but the programs load and run just fine, otherwise.

If you have less than 16 GB of RAM memory, don't run anything else at the same time besides Lightroom. Lr is a resource hog.
The current,
desktop-centric version of Lightroom is CLASSIC CC 7.2. The previous version of THAT program was the 2015.3 Release, and it was called Lightroom CC. Other than the subscription, until 12/31/2017, it was practically the same program as Lightroom 6.14.
The NEW,
cloud-based version of Lightroom CC is a totally different animal. It is derived from the old Lightroom Mobile, and is aimed at those who want to share all their files among all their devices (PCs, Macs, smartphones, and tablets).
The OLD, now unsupported standalone desktop version of what is now CLASSIC CC was called Lightroom 6.14...
Confused yet?
I am. I don't understand what you mean by "prior freestanding LR 7.2," or "File=16MB x 202."
Are you storing your files on a local hard drive, or in the Adobe Cloud? Unless you have a very fast Internet connection, the Cloud service is a royal pain in the butt. Local drives are MUCH faster.
Using Lightroom Classic v 7.2 (just installed) File=16MBx202 represents the number of RAW files to download from SD card. Earlier version of Lightroom crashed twice attempting to download files. Upgraded to new version (7.2) of LR and import worked but it was very slow. I am downloading to local drive, only use cloud for backup. Can't seem to get any useful info from Adobe and can't seem to find a telephone support number.
Got Adobe Support involved. The technician went in LR "Preferences," "Performance" and purged the Cache under RAW settings. Subsequent import went smoothly. Thanks to all for your help.
