"Plum Tomatoes Top Flight to Eat" !

If you were to eat one food with every meal, it would be tomatoes! There are two types of fresh tomatoes that I use. Plum tomatoes, and Cherry tomatoes. Plum tomatoes cut perfectly bite size with no waste. I do not squeeze the juice and seeds out, the French cooks do. Why they do that I'll never know, it's food, all good for you and not wasted!

In my photo I'm showing how I cut it in half length wise then length wise again. Then I was able to cut the length pieces into thirds. They are just right bite size ready to eat on your food dish. You can cook them in oil and a sprinkle of Sweet Basil, Oregano, and two Cloves of Garlic roughly chopped!

They are a versital food and can be bought all year round in your food store. Plum tomatoes are in bins and you can pick the size of your choice. I usually buy four at a time, no more than six! And, I do not refrigerate them, I let stay on my kitchen counter. Your refrigerator keeps them from ripening! You can let them sit three to five day, yes you can!

A small price to pay, a BIG additive to your dinner plate! Fasting is here, make a salad: Plum tomatoes, Feta Cheese chunks, Kalamata Olives, chopped Red Onions, spiced with a dash of Oregano, Sweet Basil, Garlic Power, Cracked Black Pepper, and a few pops of ground Cayenne Pepper, then add Olive Oil, and some Balsamic Vinigar, LUCKY ME I have Rasbury Balsamic Vinegar . . .

Tomatoes are better than you might think too eat! HOW'S THAT! CIAO, AP

I agree with you on tomatoes being ideal. Not so much for their versatility, but their content. Lots of good things in a tomato.

Tomatoes are an unparalleled nutritious food. The ones I prefer because they're more meat and fewer seeds and juice are what we call here "ROMA" types. I don't eat 'em with every meal, but once a week, or so, I'll slice up two or three of 'em to go with my meal. Delicious and nutritious.

Your fine response is known to me, tomatoes are versatile, they can be used with anything one eats.
Our advantage is, we can buy just one! Your response is always welcome, Bob, Thank You! AP

I eat Campari tomatoes daily... I have found them to be the tastiest in the offseason. Bigger than cherry tomatoes but not too big.

I'm with you all the way on plum tomatoes, AP. I use fresh plum tomatoes in the summer and canned plum tomatoes the rest of the year to make my pasta sauce. In the canned variety, I like the San Marzano from Italy the best but they tend so be a little pricey. I wait for a sale and buy a case of 12 to put away. I make a pot of pasta sauce every 2 weeks so I go through them fairly quickly. 👍

John, you said the right thing to say! I do make Marinara Tomatoe Sauce for my pasta. I have always wanted to use, San Marzano sauce in a large 28oz can from Italy. But, costly every time I try to buy it as you mentioned, I do buy one can ground Pastine Kitchen Ready 28oz can, and one 28oz can of Pastine Kitchen Ready Puree.

I can see I'll have to buy the better tomatoe sauce next time I'm in my grocery store witch will be tomorrow! It might just be on sale, LUCKY ME, well see! Wonderful response, John Lawrence . . . CIAO, AP

When I can't find the San Marzano on sale, AP, I make the pasta sauce with Pastene grown in Italy plum tomatoes. They also make one grown in California but I find the grown in Italy plum tomatoes better. They're close in quality to the San Marzano for less than half the price. A mix of one can kitchen ready and one can Italian plum tomatoes also makes a great pasta sauce. As you know, there are no rules and every pasta sauce tastes good. Bon Appetito! John

Have you ever grown your own? Nothing compares to an Heirloom tomato fresh off the vine.

I buy mostly Roma Tomatoes. Most stores in my community sell them at reasonable prices. I read an article that tomatoes are more nutritious when cooked. Which enriches Lycopene, which is good for the prevention of Prostate cancer in men. I use them mostly for salads and sandwiches though.

Hi, rgrenaderphoto! I never grown tomatoes myself. My family and friends have through the years, fresh grown tomatoes are the very best taste, store bought will never beat that wonderful taste! Road side farm stands are also the very best! CIAO, AP

Thank You, mas24, for your observation and response! I see "ROMA" tomatoes in my food store and never bought them, but I will that's for sure! Tomatoes are one of the best things to eat, and you can buy them all year round in your food store. Your cooking part cought my attention. I have been cooking with tomatoes for years. Now I'm learning more about the classic taste! AP
