Nope, But I have used
General Camera Repair
2218 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107
(626) 449-4533
(Was quite good, honest, quick for me anyway.)
International Camera Repair
1186 E Walnut St, Pasadena, CA 91106
(626) 440-0699
(A bit quirky and slow for me. Took a long time to disassemble and clean a Pentax DSLR for me.)
I've never used them but there is
Sammy's Camera (Retail)
1759 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106
(626) 796-3300
(They are not a camera repair per se but they can do some repairs and quick fixes on site, and send out for any factory/warranty or non-warranty repairs. Rather famous, one of a few other locations. Authorized dealer for Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. Lighting and Darkroom Equipment too.)
I have used Tucson Camera Repair, 3813 M Oracle Rd, Tucson, Az, 85705, 520-887-1841
They are extremely good and a real pleasure to work with.
Rick
I have used Canon Repair at both East and West Coast Repair Centers. The price is reasonable and if they cant repair they usually will replace with a similar item. I have had them repair both lenses and camera bodies.
I learned of Rick's Discount Camera Repair in Denver in this forum years ago and have used him ever since.
His repairs and cleaning jobs are reliable and economical -- MUCH cheaper than Canon repair. He's now working
on my Canon 5Dsr, and I expect to save several hundred dollars.
There's an official Canon repair facility in Costa Mesa and another one in Burbank I think (more oriented to video). I dropped an expensive camera and lens. The facility in Costa Mesa checked both out very quickly and let me know they were ok and not damaged right away. They didn't charge me anything.
Thanks all responders for your recommendations. I will put these in my reference file. I had gotten two over the phone quotes saying it would be up to $350 to fix the issue. One said shutter one said possibly something on the motherboard. I was getting Err 80 code on my Canon 5D Mark II which shouldn't be a shutter. Anyway in a last ditch effort before shipping the camera off for repair i went and purchased a new 32 Gb Cf Card. Popped it in and problem is gone for now and camera working beautifully. I am happy.
That's a great inexpensive fix for sure. If in the future you need repair use the Canon repair center. They repaired my old 5D Mark 1 last year (which needed no parts, thank god as they no longer make them) and was in need of a good cleaning for what I consider a very reasonable price seeing it had over 99,000 clicks on it. Used the east coast facility and they were in touch me each step. They took care of the nag I was getting, cleaned the camera and sensor and gave me (to my surprise) the actual click count. It was worth the $125.00 I paid. This is my backup camera but still use it often. Their customer service is the best. I have used them for repairs on DSLR's, video cameras and lenses and have NEVER had issue.
Gary, where is Rico's camera repair in Denver? I need some work done and if I can get it done locally that would be great.
