I'm filing this away just in case I get ambitious some day. Have any of you made up flash drives like this?

Got-them, use them. Comes in handy and better than caring CD's around.

I probably will not create the collection of flash drives, but I certainly have bookmarked the article. Terrific links and information!

Got quite a few utilities on thumb drives. Many computers don't have DVD players now.

Yes, I have. Cheap insurance! (all other data is backed up external to the machines).

I hope it does.
There are a lot of fake one Terabyte flash drives out there.
Search One Teradyte flash drives on Amazon and look at the reviews of the cheap ones.

How much do you have loaded on the drive you have now?

Interesting and in my wheelhouse. Have been using similar boot/diagnostic/fix software for a long time.

Even more interesting is having a USB Drive populated with Faststone Image Viewer in it's portable form. Faststone offers a version of Faststone image Viewer that you can run from your USB port.... (2.0 or 3.0). Plug it in and go to the drive. execute the Faststone file and it will open a view of your drives and files. Navigate to your Pictures folder or other folders where you keep your images.... external or internal. Then you can use all the tools and post processing capabilities of Faststone Image Viewer, without having the program installed on your computer, or other computers you may want to access images on.
