Whats the deal !!!! Why are the locations of so many member locations in hiding ... are you running from the law or just ashamed of where you live. It would be fun to know just how diverse the group is

Due to being a film shooter exclusively, I am in the witness protection program. 😬

I'm with you on this one. Fortunately, the of those that do list their locations near me, I've met and we've become friends. In some cases, it's nice to know where a lot of photos were taken. I realize we're mobile, but a lot of the photographs are from locales close to home. So, like yourself, I wish more people would list their locations.

I was recently contacted by another photographer and we met for dinner the other evening. What a treat. If I had not listed my location, that meeting might never have occurred.

I used to question that as well, but it can add to info in Exiff data, etc, and contribute to easily pinpointing the exact location of a person. It's just another facet in identity protection that some choose.

How does adding where you are located in your UHH profile add that info to the EXIF data in your photo files??? Someone want to answer that?

Be careful how you use "humble" - there are people on here who will tear you a new one for that

I must have missed the political portions with the exception of this post. If I was offended I most likely would not continue on and participate.

I think it was the mention of "Washington, D.C".

I'd be happy to try to answer that. I'm having trouble figuring out the question.

It does not add to the EXIF data, perhaps I should have stated in addition to the EXIF data information available.

well it looks like were split down the middle. Even though I am far from a computer expert - I believe that all the members that have some concern about there location should leave all internet sites cause if I am correct anyone with some computer knowledge can get - see get your IP address, "ping" it and know somewhat where you are. Nice to know that the photos were taken near "Two Dot" Montana or "Beaver Falls" Arizona or where ever.

You'll find that split somewhat across the board. I posted a thread regarding the value of knowing EXIF data, as I've recently been removing that from my images. The answers were rather split.

On web-sites as of this = where we all HELP each other... I ALWAYS give not only my correct location as to where I live - But on request I give my Voice Telephone number = (That is in the Private Messenger thing.)

Everything else is Open to all members here.... To give more information ==

James R. Kyle (aka= JamesR)
Des Peres, Saint Louis County, Missouri. (about 15 miles to the West of the City of Saint Louis, Missouri.)

This is accurate and up-to-date.

So..... Any member traveling through Saint Louis, may give me a heads-up before their arrival in the area. We might have coffee, a lunch, dinner, or = Go Shooting together.

And NO!!! I am not afraid of the "Big Bad Wolf" - (F.B.I., C.I.A., H.S. or any other of the "alphabet soup" of our U.S. Gov.) - Hence = I am an Open Book.
