Perhaps the new section will prove to be more useful for the novice than the general section. In the general section a question is answered by many members and as we have seen we all have different opinions and many of them biased. If in this new section the person asking for advise receives only one answer it could be possible that that particular person will be better served than when many answers are received which invites to more confusion.
Time will tell how useful the new section will be.

I asked the question. Someone posted a question back and I can't post an answer.

Why?

I made a post to the "Advice from the Pros" section and wanted to make a change to that post.
What if I have to answer a Question from the Pro. Is there 2 way communication?
Just a thought.

That hurts. I'm sure it will be worked out. Were it me for now at least, I'd send a PM to "someone". they could then post your answer to their question.

Thank you for creating this new section! Hopefully, I just successfully subscribed. This site has taught me so much over the past couple years, but this section will be perfect for me (and others). No fear of snarky comments, just professional advice/help!

Thanks!
Patty

I enjoy the occasional, well-worded "snarky" comment; I hope the pros will contribute in that respect as well.

A very important thought.
As I understand it, there will be no exchange of ideas or clarifying questions permitted--except from the pros themselves.
That, I consider a less than fruitful arrangement.

The person who originated the question should be able to further post in the thread in case the "Pros" need more information to answer properly.

I don't get it either.
The newby, who doesn't know any better will still have to separate the wheat from the chaff from advice and opinions opined from often self-appointed experts--
"mentors" who may know what they are talking about, or might not; "mentors" who will still disagree with each other even though they belong to this special mentor group. The reader must still decide.
As it is now, we have a free flow of ideas, from anyone who wishes to contribute. In short time, a reader knows which contributors are credible and knowledgable, but it not limited by only their ideas.
The Main discussion for open ideas will still be available-I understand. But a closed discussion, limiting ideas from anyone but a group of elite mentors, whose ideas are already judged everyday by their responses; will serve little purpose, except to promote self aggrandizing from those who already take themselves too seriously
Still, I will read "Advice from the Pros" daily; as well as the Main Discussion.
Nothing really new under the sun here.

One more point: Will the elite experts/mentors still be permitted to give us advice in the Main Discussion---I certainly hope so.

I have a thought! If this forum isn't set up to your liking, don't visit. Pretty simple and a hell of a lot more civil.

Yes and this is my case. I created the thread to ask the question. I have a response that said he doesn't understand. I can't post another to explain.

In the usual UHH forum thread one gets: (1) expert advice (2) strong conflicting opinions and (3) completely wrong answers, all for the reader to sort out.

This will be (1) without the others. It is a great idea.

Allowing follow up questions to an answer would be good. Perhaps a method to send a PM follow up to the mentor, and the mentor can post it and reply?

I said I would visit the "forum" and read it daily.
But, as you have demonstrated, an exchange of ideas, is valuable.
I see no reason to fix what is not broken; by exclusion.

It's detrimental to divide a forum like that. Advice given by members in the main section is now considered 2nd tier advice.

Apparently.
The pros are disingenuous in the Main Discussion; and need to be more honest in an alternate forum-where they cannot be questioned.
Makes sense to me.

After working on for it about a week we now can nnounce this new section's creation.

Here is a list of links for you to discover what you can expect from this section.

You and the mentors can make this section a success. Do not hesitate to ask even and especially if you are a novice.

Ron, don't know if you're taking suggestions for mentors, but one of the best, most knowledgeable and helpful posters is amfoto1. Another is burkphoto.

Where were all these complaints in the seemingly endless threads leading up to the new section??? That was the time to complain!!!
