LR CC Classic - now does not apply tracking or allow multiple deletions

Okay, this is just frustrating and stupid - and a first in my experience with LR. This is LR Classic CC fully updated, by the way, running on Mac OSX high Sierra - everything updated - on a new 27" Retina display iMac.

So this evening I imported a couple of dozen shots of the moonrise over the local mountains. I went into the Develop module and played around with a few images, but then decided I could delete a bunch of them. My attempts to go back to the Library module, however, kept failing - this never happened before. That is, I clicked on the "Develop" item at the top of the screen, and nothing happened.

I quit and restarted LR (without running the backup, which I set to run every time I quit). This time I could get into the Develop module, but even so when I select multiple images and either RT-click to delete OR press the delete key (both methods always worked before) rather than asking if I am sure I want to delete 7 (or whatever number oI selected) images it just asks if I want to delete the one image.

The other new and stupid behavior has to do with the map function (which I learned how to use thanks to folks on this site - I'm talking to you, Dan!). Following the exact same process I've done a dozen times to date, I first downloaded my GPS tracking as a GPX file from followmee.com, and the track does indeed appear on the map. But when I attempt to assign locations to one or multiple images, I get an error that no times match. The EXIF file shows the correct time (5:45PM local time) so LR obviously "knows" the photo was taken at that time. And the tracking is for the past 5 hours (I took the shots an hour ago).

So has anyone got any ideas as to why LR has had a brain fart? And more importantly, suggestions of how to fix this annoying behavior?

TIA

Try deleting from the library module. I never delete from the develop module.

Thanks - but as I stated that's what I was trying to do...I know that in the develop module you can only delete one image at a time, but that's why I went into the library module (after having to restart since for some reason it wouldn't let me get into that module the normal way)

So that isn't the issue.

Thanks, but with all due respect, this means nothing whatsoever. As I specifically stated, this is the first time I've seen this behavior (I've been using LR for 2+ years now).

Does nobody actually read the questions on this site? Why bother replying with non-answers?

When you finished editing in the Develop Module, did you click on the "Done" button? I have never seen this, but it makes sense that if you have applied edits, until you click on Done, nothing is written to the catalog.

Yes, i did in fact click done (since nothing else can be performed anyway until you do).

But the problem persists after quitting and restarting LR - which is particularly odd.

In fact, even after restarting the Mac it persists. So far as I can tell, everything else works fine - it's not able to delete more than one image while in library mode. It also won't apply a settings paste command to multiple images in the develop mode. And the map mode refuses to match the GPX file (which it does import correctly) to the images, despite them having the proper time stamped on them.

All quite vexing.

Curious. Are you trying to delete from the bottom filmstrip or the main workspace?

Actually, it behaves the same with either approach. And I'm stumped as to why it cannot find matching images to the GPX file in the map mode. All that stuff worked normally up until yesterday - and I didn't do any OSX updates or anything in the few days since the last time I used it without issue.

I had something like this happen and found that i had to"x" Mark the group and then press the control key backspace to delete a group. Just also be from the grid view.

to do multiple deletes I believe you need to be in grid view (it doesn't seem to work from the roll at the bottom.

Thanks for trying, Lloyd and mike, but the issue was occurring in grid view as well as single image view. And for the record I previously never had any issues selecting multiple images from the roll at the bottom.

And I can only wonder if the issue is related to the map module having essentially broken.

Okay, now this is a NEW wrinkle!

Now LR will not allow me to select multiple images at all! Shift-click, CMD-A, etc - all do nothing regardless of what viewing mode I am using in the library module.

And to top it off, after restarting my machine (I did a PRAM reset hoping that might solve things) now the wireless keyboard (Magic keyboard with numeric keypad) also won't communicate with the iMac (though the wireless mouse is fine) - I am typing this on an old wired keyboard I kept (luckily).

Has Apple gone off the rails in QC? I've had more issues with this new iMac than I've had with all my previous Macs combined (at least 6 over 20 years).
