I took this in Newport RI and it is all that remains of one of the famous Newport Cottages, it's the mansions stable, the "big house" burnt to the ground in the 1940's and had been abandoned for years.

The bottom one looks like abandoned military barracks. I've seen some like that at Floyd Bennett Field, in Brooklyn, or is that Queens.
It is old barracks---Ft. McClellan, AL. The based was de-commissioned several yeares ago, but many of the old bldgs. are still there. That is in Annison, AL, and I grew up very near the old Fort. My dad taught me how to drive on some of the old back roads!

Sorry, I didn't notice the caption above the picture the first time I saw it.
Good pix.
Some while back I took this photo of The Bells, an abandoned estate along Newport, RI's scenic Ocean Drive. It reminds me of a scene out of a British gothic novel like Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre.

I was there last summer (2010) didn't see that one. My wife loved the one mansion we did see.
Is that an aquatint effect you applied?
There is some awesome pics on here. I love them. Mine do not compare. But thought I would share a couple I took few weeks ago near my home in Cedar Grove NC
I currently live in NC but spent 63 years living in the Newport area before moving south 6 years ago. I don't remember exactly how many years ago this was taken, but it may have been in the '80's. The site is not seen readily from the Ocean Drive itself, one had to walk well off the highway to approach the site. I don't know what its present condition is. We usually visit family once or twice a year back in RI, but have not checked out The Bells.
I actually used Topaz Adjust to bring out the November sky a bit, but I'm not sure at this late date what specific tool was used.
Shot a few years ago in Bodie, CA. Unedited. I love this place.

This is an old homested in Pioneer Town Ca. Very few people have seen it. It sits in a sucluded valley away from any road. Built in the mid 1800s.
If I'm not mistaken the photo I posted of the inside of the stables is the same building in your image, " The Bells".

OK, this is not the US but I thought I'd throw it in since some of the pictures here reminded me of it.

I just looked at Topaz Adjust. I will buy it, but it's not in my budget right now. Nice stuff.
