Has anyone used the Sharpshooter Window Rail?
I am looking for your experience with this product. I have Window brackets, Bean bags and none are satisfactory. But before I spent anymore money I need to know if this Window Rail really works.

Window rails use to work well in the 1950 A&W drive in. Seriously one would have to have big use for it at $150

I watched the video, and it looks really kludgy.

I spend a lot of time in my truck looking around. Most of the time I will be able to get out and walk around to get in position or check things out in other areas. But there are a lot of times when I see something and need to take it from inside the truck, due to time and or the fact that if I get out what ever is there will be off in a flash. So I have been looking for something like this, I need to check this one out, looks better than others I have seen. If it continues to look promising I may have a GAS attack on this one (or find a bigger bottle of antacids).

You might try a thin monopod with a tilt-head that will go down to the floor between the side of your seat and the door. I can do that in some vehicles with a 150-600. Not bad and allows for some movement.

Thanks, I like this idea, then if needed the monopod will already be attached if I do need to get out in a hurry. Just extend it and set.

That works if you have the room between the seat and the door....some vehicles are too tight! Good luck.

Just make sure your engine is turned off when using it as the vibrations from the engine can effect this product's performance.

I use a bean bag on the window sill for shooting with a 600 f/4 lens. Not sure why bean bags are not satisfactory for you. Can you explain?

I use a 600mm F4 also and with the weight I do not put that much weight on the power windows. Thus when using a bean bag it is too low. Also even if the Window was up some I loose the stability of the bean bag. (Have tried).
I know put the window up to the level that you need then place the bag etc. Still looking for problems with power window with that setup. Therefore not going that root.
I was hoping someone had used the Window Rail but it appears no one on UHH has used this product.

Thanks. I guess I am shorter than you, or my car is smaller, or my seat is always at the lowest position, because the bean bag usually works for me with the window down. I do have a window mount that that I got at one of the on-line stores that gives me maybe 4 more inches of height and I can put the bean bag on that when it needs to be raised. I also know that whatever you are photographing in the national parks, wildlife disappear when you open a car door.

I have adopted a UHH users suggestion to get a kids pool spaghetti thingy (cant come up with the name right now). A long Styrofoam tube about 3" round with a 1" hole. I shortened it to fit my window (about 2 feet) then sliced it lengthwise. I slip it onto the window glass and it provides a cushioned rest with camera flexibility when the window is about midway up (down) or as you're most comfortable. As noted, shut off the engine.
Can be had at hardware stores and Walmart for less than $5.00. Stores easily.
