Tamron 18-400mm lens?

Am interested in this lens as my chief carry around lens. I have the canon 18-135 and 55-250- canon kit lenses,but can eliminate these from my bag if the uhher"s deem it is a worthy lens. I"m not looking for canon L quality or an f2.8 but a decent lens as the above kit lenses work for me as an amateur photographer. I also have the canon 10-18mm and the tamron 150-600mm G2 lens which i love for medium range telephoto. Thanks for your help.

I think this lens will meet your expectations. Really a nice walk around lens. Wife enjoyed it's versatility in Yellowstone. There have been numerous affirmations on the Hogg. It is not the sharpest tool in the box, but quite acceptable for many.

Just a thought for you - for about the same price, you can buy a second body. The 18-400 lives in the ranges you already own, and thus is just weight (although there are some conveniences). A second body gives you the same capabilities with the added assurance of that backup body. But... it is only money....

This is over 20X. The "more X" you have, the more compromises designers have to wrestle with.

I'm a happy 18-400 user - took close to 1,500 shots with it in Edinburgh, including several hundred of fireworks and loads of nighttime images and it performed so well that I hardly used the other two lenses I brought along.

I'm perfectly satisfied with my Sigma 18-300. I do get shots with IQ that are darned good. While it may not be as good as top quality glass, it is more than good enough for my purposes. Here is an example. I expect the Tammy to do essentially as well.

I own this lens and have it attached to my Canon SL1 for the smallest "walkaround/travel" package I could come up with.
I am amazed at the quality of the photos I've taken with this lens. Granted it's not "L" glass, but for walking around and being able to go from 18mm (wide angle) to 400mm is hugely convenient.
