There must be a way to transfer photos out of facebook into a PC. Just haven't figured it out. Any ideas? Also, does facebook reduce the resolution of the photos posted?

Right click on photo, and save image as.

And yes, it will have reduced resolution from the original submission to Facebook.

I've read that facebook does something to the uploaded photos, but have never really verified that. I'm not a huge social network person. The article I read mentioned that the photos on fb don't look as sharp as they do on the author's photo editor.

As for downloading, everything on a web page is downloaded and saved in the browser's cache. You'd have to search through there if the right click and save solution is not available directly on the page.

I did some testing recently and reviewing the file size downloaded from FB as compared to the upload. It appears FB performs a compression of the JPEG that equates to lowering the quality from 100% to about 80%. Regarding downloads, you can download individually (Save As) as mentioned earlier. From an album, you can also download the contents of the entire album. The files downloaded are the compressed versions as stored within FB.

I have to click the photo to open it and then right click to save.

More specifically, my wife has an iphone. When she receives a photo sent to her, how do I extract that file from facebook? Is there a way to send it to me via email attachment. I don't see how to do that on her phone in facebook. I must be missing something. Oh, and I don't have fb on my computer. Not a fan of social media.

On iPhone. Once on Facebook press once on small photo to access largest version. Then long press on photos and a option to save photo will appear. Select save and then it will be saved to your photos app on phone.

Go to Settings, then to General. At the bottom of that section, look for "Download a copy of your Facebook data." Not sure what all that would have, but I would think pictures might be in there. Facebook compresses the crap out of pictures, so they'll never look right once you've uploaded them.
