Frankly, I don't want the D850 anymore either. But my reason is that it is already in my gear case. One is enough, for now.

I don't want the D850 any more because I've read that there is too much noise. Maybe the pixels are just too many, or too small so that the limit of the technology is reached in this design. Plus, the camera has to be even more sensitive to vibration/shake/etc... due to the smaller pixels, which is required if the sensor is the same size as other dslrs, which is the 35mm size.

Comments?

I will come at this in a different way. I bought my D850 on the second of November and was pleased as plum when I got it... only to discover about 3 days later that it would not follow birds in flight... I set it up just as my D500 and it still was not right, I played with it for 5000 shots... and I took it back to get my money back... it was a no go. They told me that they found nothing wrong with it, to which I said bull crap. So I got got it on my tripod, and I shot moving cars (grills) yes a hard subject, but then so are birds, and after about 100 shots with it I called Nikon. They asked for three images, and I did not hand pick them, rather I sent 3 consecutive images. upon taking a look at the first image the Nikon Person said... Send it in, there is something wrong with your camera. I sent it in on Wednesday, had it back the next Wednesday. I went out and shot moving cars with it ten minutes after I got it back. Lo and behold, they were sharp and less noise than I had seen in any image in the past.

Sure there was a problem. The D850 was a piece of crap... until it went back in. true, QC should have caught it, but they did not. A dear friend of mine is to get her D850 back from Nikon tomorrow for very similar issues. I expect it to be fixed as well. But out of the thousands of D850's out there... only a couple have had issues... and they are correctable... that does not sound like there is too much noise. I think that you need to read and look at the images that are out there and really judge for yourself rather than letting someone else tell you what you need or dont need. and if you cant afford it... by all means... dont buy it. get something else or use what you have... just dont be a nay sayer because someone else's best friend's third cousin thought that it was not good.

Where did you read this? Was it someone on Ugly Hedge Hog? The sensor of the D850 is one of the best on any camera ever! The D850 is a top notch state of the art camera with few peers. You either read the comments of someone not qualified to review the D850, or you misinterpreted the review.

Interesting comment. Is everyone on UHH qualified to pontificate expert advise on the D850??? Or they just common folk with a belief???

I would love to have a high quality camera WITHOUT all the extra junk. I do not want video or internet.... just a great sensor and optics....simpler.

If you already have the D850, why are you judging it by what you read instead of what you know from your photographs?

If you are thinking about getting one, ask here for images taken in situations that might cause grain and decide for yourself. When researching a camera I'm thinking about purchasing, I prefer to get my knowledge from those that own the camera and maybe asking what about the camera they don't like, then averaging the answers. Remember, one person may dislike something and that's their opinion. Many people disliking a feature is something to make note of.

As mentioned previously, magazines tend to be bias.

It's not about the pixels, Nikon technology is more advanced. I just bought Canon M5 iv from Joe Capra, west coast professional who changed to nikon. His opinion was the the 850 was more advanced and it will be another 5 years before Canon reaches this level as mark 5 was just released. Arthur Morris changed over for the AF system and ease of use of the controls. There are a lot of reasons to change or not.

You must be new to photography and if that is the case you should start off with something a bit more basic.

Wow. That was helpful.

you're "read" this which contradicts everything out out there and you "believe" it so no longer want the camera. If you read it - it must be true. What other strange believes do you have because you read them somewhere?

ALL high MP full frame cameras have the same problems - the only solution is medium format $$$$$ - or settling for something smaller and cheaper.

I don’t want the D850 because I can’t afford it. I guess I have to stay with my D500.

The a7Riii does much better on the DxOMark "sports" score.

And in today's blog Artie is complaining that the Nikon A/F hunts too much on his D5.

The best system is the one that works for you today, 'cause nobody can predict the future.

i have found that often what i read is nonsense......You could order the camera from B&H Photo and you have 30 days to try it out, if it does not work for you and send it back you get a full refund......Can't ask for anything better than that, so stop thinking and listening to others and do for yourself..........
