Cross-breed ducks are common out here in Lake Co. CA. Usually cross with domestic, plain vanilla-white, and either Mallard or Wood Ducks. Might be a cross of some sort.

Yes it is a muscovy, but they are a neotropical duck from Central and South America, not Japan.
Muscovy Ducks, suppose to be good eating, at least in New Zealand. Just thought I'd mention it 😉😉
