And if I do sell one (either the D750 or D7100), which one should I keep. The D750 is full frame and creates better images than the D7100, but the D7100 is lighter and useful when I take it on longer outdoor adventures, typically on my bicycle.

Have the D750 converted to Infra Red! Then keep all three.

I ordered a D850 from B&H on November 10, 2017. My camera arrived on January 9, 2018.

I have only had a few opportunities to use it, but so far, I am in love. I still have my Nikon D750 and D7100, and now my wife is insisting that I sell one of those. She feels that two cameras should be enough (primary and backup). I want to keep all three, but need help with a good reason to keep all three.

I'd say keep the 7100 as a lightwait drag around camera. Even though a DX, they are very nice, and much smaller form factor.
If you sell the 750, what would you be selling it for? I've a got a few projects coming up that would be better with a newer full frame sensor (large files needed, and low light shooting a plus)

I have just ordered an d850 from B&H. Decided I needed an upgrade from my d7100, wanted a full frame, looked around and decided if I was going to jump this would be what I would need. My lenses should be compatible - I have purchased FX lenses over the years anticipating an upgrade and am doing it. One exception is my Macro 85mm DX lens, I think this will be okay but the others will work. A question, what has been everyone's experience with wait times? Hopefully not too long but seems worth the wait. Any other suggestions?

Here is what Nikon Rumors website posted about D850 availability. It appears Amazon and Adorama are shipping quicker than B&H. It said that may be due to fact that B&H had many more orders than the other two stores. I would call B&H to see what their timetable is on fulfilling orders to see how long it might be, especially if you are in a hurry for it.
Check with Adorama also. I have bought from them before. They are a reputable store also.

That was over 2 weeks ago. Best Buy has them in a number of stores and the numbers are climbing.

I know the Nikon Rumors link I sent him was from 2 weeks ago. But the OP said he already ordered it from B&H. The point of including that link was to show the OP that Adorama and Amazon were shipping pre-orders ahead of what B&H was shipping, probably because B&H may have had more orders for the D850 than the other stores. I told him to call B&H to see how their fulfillment of orders was going.

Sometimes it pays to read the whole post instead of just one sentence. This way you understand what was actually said in the post.

Thank you all. Ordered from B&H because they are always great to deal with and no tax for out of state customers. Given the price,
saving the $264 will pay for the new memory card I need. No hurry but I suspect it will be here sooner than a month or more as others have indicated. Looking forward to getting this in my bag.

OK, so you don't lose it, you choose not to use it.

I could see somebody who wants to carry one camera using it if they already had the DX lenses. Nikon probably thought so too.

Don't disagree. Why would one spend the money on a D850 and use ONLY DX lenses on it? Kind of a wast, don't you think? I my case, I believe that I have two DX specific lenses, both purpose bought for use on my D500. One is a 35mm DX and the other a 8mm DX that I really just bought for some fun! Best of luck.

Nobody said only.

You said you lose the use of DX. It ain't so.
What people choose to do and why is their business.
Why did Nikon provide that option in their FF cameras?

The camera will automatically switch to DX. There is a dimmed view outside the DX area. Pretty cool.

I chatted with B&H 2 days ago. I ordered my D850 1/4. Was told that stock has been coming in slowly. Would not commit to a time frame per se, but was told it might be 4 to 6 weeks longer before i might expect to see my new body. If I get lucky, it might be sooner, but I'm not counting on that.

I ordered my D850 from B & H on December 13th (MY Christmas present to myself); UPS delivered it this Wednesday past, January 17th, because no one was able to be home on Tuesday January 16th to sign for it. Like you, I also chose to make the jump from a D7100 to the D850 after much consideration. Originally looked at the D810 and almost committed to it, then along came the D850. Now all I have to do is consult with my CFO about a payment plan now that I have the item. I never expected it so soon based on what I had been reading on availability and based upon the fact that there are no D850's available locally (NE Illinois area) that I know of. I have been going through the owner's manual almost page by page and doing some preliminary setting up. Also have thought about an appropriate subject for its first shots, and at the head of the list our only grandchild who is growing up way too quickly, now in middle school and a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Here she is, at Tae Kwon Do and hiking the Boundary Trail at Mount St Helens this past summer.
