My photoshop elements 14 editor is so slow. Sometimes it may take 2 minutes to complete the edit of one picture. Any ideas?

My guess would be you need to upgrade your computer. I had the same issues with Lightroom until I upgraded mine, now it’s lightning fast compared to before.

Do you mean to get a new version of Photoshop Elements? My computer is an Apple Mac and only 2 years old.

You may have the minimum requirements to run the program, such as memory or the wrong graphics card but in order to run the program properly it may need more than the minimum.

Which version of OSX?
There are 2 new security bugs found in most cpu's made in the last 20 years "meltdown" and "spectre" the latest versions of Windows 10 OSX High Sierra and Linux have mitigations to make it harder for these hardware bugs to be exploited unfortunately these mitigations can cause a performance hit.
That could be the issue or perhaps something else is running and taking a lot of cpu time, activity monitor should show you where your resources are going to.
Something is amiss. I have a rather ordinary HP desktop with only 8 g RAM, and it runs Elements 15 with no problem. The only delay I notice is downloading RAW files, 3 seconds rather than 1, and some of the built-it specialty features such as shake reduction. Try opening the task manager and see what other programs/applications are running. When I experience a slowdown I have found things such as Amazon photos running. Why I never figured out, but if I end the task the delay goes away.
It could be a combination of amount of RAM, graphic card and what else you have running in the background. With many computers you can upgrade them but in most, a new machine is better in the long run.

As has been suggested, you may need to upgrade your computer. The amount of internal memory is probably the most influential factor. I would first check to see how much RAM (internal memory) your computer has. Then check with the manufacturer to see the maximum your computer can hold. Have the maximum installed if you are not there yet. Increasing the memory will not be that terribly expensive, and certainly far less than buying a new computer.
I have assumed here that your computer is not terribly old, in which case it may be time to buy a new. Even then, if you can add more memory, that may put off the need to buy a brand new system. Also, I have assumed that you are not running out of hard drive space.

CBW,
You did not say what type of picture you have loaded, if you have layers or not, and what specific operation you are attempting. Also do you have other apps running, is the image on the hard drive or external device.
So far you walked into the doctor's office saying "I don't fell well" and the other patients in the waiting room begin their diagnosis.
It looks like you have been a member for many years, you should realize that the waiting room crowd likes to suggest expensive options.
For a mac
https://etrecheck.com/ Etrecheck essentially evaluates your mac and how it is performing, there may be some things slowing the system down this should identify problems that can be addressed.
