Ebay has a used Nikon d3200, shutter count 1801, for $242, including shipping costs. It includes the full kit of stuff that comes with the new camera, except of corse, no lens. Is $242 a reasonable price?

I really want to buy this, if it's a fair price.

I believe it is a fair price.

Yeth yeth!!! I will switch my search to the d3300 forthwith. It's a good thing I posted this thread -- I am very behind times relative to digital stuff. I enjoy the new technology but sometimes I wish we were frozen in time back in the days of kodak brownies. Life was simpler, cities were smaller, and the air was clean and sweet. (you guessed it, I'm a really old fart).

I don't think the gray market applies with a used camera since their is no guarantees on used equipment but KEH is a good company and Ebay has a return police even if KEH doesn't also i have bought from them before with no problems and when you are looking make sure you are buying a ( used not a FOR REPAIRS OR PARTS ITEM ) I have been doing e bay for about 13 years as a seller. Gray market matters on Nikon items as long as you want to keep them working. The less publicized but more important effect of grey market is that Nikon will not fix them...ever, not just under warranty.

kind of depends on the value as to that being important e.g the post above you the body is $219 Assuming it isn't grey market and nikon is willing to work on it out of warranty for pretty much any fault The cost of repair would pretty much be uneconomic to repair or with older models they just can't get the parts.

That body would really be use it till it breaks and sell the corpse on ebay for $50..

if it was say $600 or more then you might need to weigh grey market as a factor

Bear in mind that the D3200 (actually any D3xxx or D5xxx) models are base models and need the newer AFS lenses with built in focus motors in the lens in order to auto focus. Older auto focus & manual focus lenses will either not auto focus or meter (or both). Since you are shopping on price, money can be saved by using some of the older technology lenses as opposed to newer iterations.Something to think about.

The cost to repair any older units will likely be cost prohibitive anyway. Better to think of them as throw aways...
