People are hoping that if one eagle will start using the perches things might get better. I’ll check back periodically on L&D 14 but first choice now will be 15. At any one time there have been at least 10-20 eagles in the air at 15. If you have a 600 mm lens it could be great. Check wind conditions. Look for northerly or westerly winds.

I have a 500mm which I have used in the past at L&D 14 with great success.I will try to check weather conditions for North or Westerly. Thanks again

I used Canon’s 100-400 ll. I bought a 5D Mark 4 recently and I think I used that body with a 1.4 x. I switch off between that and a 7 D Mark ll.

North West winds today and Wednesday. Thursday South. Thanks for the tip.
Is it from noon on at L&D 15 like 14 is?

Yeah I would say so. At L&D 15 you will be facing more due south so angle to get sun on full face seems trickier.

These pictures are from the first week of “eagle season”€ along the Mississippi River.

When is "Eagle Season"? Any other known good area's between the park & Detroit, Mi.?

I call eagle season here in Iowa January until first or second week in March. The way I understand it is eagles from northern Wisconsin and Minnesota migrate down the Mississippi looking for open water which they find by the locks and dams along the river. As it starts getting warmer the eagles head back up north.
