Great images.Lock and Dam 14?
Where on the river were you? Great shots.
I was at Lincoln trail state park, near marshall Illinois
Mi630. The first capture is great. I was there last year and Eagle all over the place. There was a big tree by the dam that the Eagles 🦅 stayed in. Thanks for sharing. If I may ask what Len did you used.

Yes, at Lock and Dam 14. Unfortunately, so far at least, the action isn’t as good as it used to be. There were two trees next to the water the eagles would perch in and swoop down to catch fish. Sometimes only 20 feet away. Well those trees were taken down because they were dead and erected artificial perches in place. They did plant some trees but due to the quality of the soil they had to plant small trees. It will be many years until they are big enough to have eagles use them.
The eagles are there but they tend not to come in as close as they used to. The last couple days I have gone down to L & D 15. Tons more eagles there. One estimate put the number around 300-400 eagles. Again not always real close but occasionally one will come in close. The times I have been there the wind was from the south so fishing shots were from behind which isn’t good. Hoping for northerly winds soon.

I used Canon’s 100-400 ll. I bought a 5D Mark 4 recently and I think I used that body with a 1.4 x. I switch off between that and a 7 D Mark ll.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me. It is a 3hr drive for me and sounds L&D 14 is iffy which I enjoyed going to years ago. Will have to make the trip for L&D 15.

People are hoping that if one eagle will start using the perches things might get better. I’ll check back periodically on L&D 14 but first choice now will be 15. At any one time there have been at least 10-20 eagles in the air at 15. If you have a 600 mm lens it could be great. Check wind conditions. Look for northerly or westerly winds.
