Beautiful. I read someplace that the Spirit Lake Lodge has been reconstructed on the site of the buried lake?

It is quite a site and an interesting place to go back to occasionally to see how it is recovering.
The lake isn't exactly "buried". It exists at a higher altitude, with more surface area, but is not as deep, and it still has significant floating debris on parts of it. The original shore level is about 200 feet below the current surface. I do not think any of the lodges nor the camps (Scouts, YMCA, etc.) that were on or near the lake will ever be rebuilt in this area. The closest any road gets to that lake is about a half mile as the crow flies and is along a ridge. I think there is only one trail that goes all the way down to the lake. Others go to various viewpoint areas.

Good answer. Can you imagine all that debris?
