Ain't it fun? I hope you don't mean "bigotry" in the present administration's definition which is if you talk against my views you are a bigot, if you agree with me then it's all good.
Please inform us- who are the two to which you refer. In all my years of teaching I never ran across those two names.

Thank you soldier (photoman) for your sacrifice. You as have seen with almost all US servicemen are right on with your views.I was drafted, called up to Vietnam, but two months before told not to report because the war was ending. Always felt a little guilty about that. All of us in our neighborhood were ready to go. At least I have a son in the armed forces. You are right on also about God, and country. This country was founded on God and freedom of religion, (I re-state of religion, not from religion) That is why the pilgrims and others of that time came here. To have freedom to practice their own religion. The constitution has that stated in the Bill of Rights. Amen and yes God will bless America if we let him back into the fiber of our nation. We must have a president who will do that.

We must be around the same age. My number in the draft was 16, got called up, went for my physical (1-A), but didn't get the final call because the war ended. The night of the draft lottery was the worst night of my life. Everyone in my dorm was celebrating their high lottery numbers, and I just knew I was going to die in some god-forsaken jungle. I honestly never felt any guilt about not going because I was so opposed to the whole thing.

I was #125, it was still in the definitely you will be called group. One friend was number 2. My group was the last to ever receive a draft number. After us there were never any draft numbers issued. None of the younger set can say that, but kudos and respect to all those who enlist in any armed forces duty, including the National Guard, they have been called up countless times. You and all others have saved our country in many ways. God bless you and all soldiers.

Thanks Drigby1 for your kind words. Please don't feel guilty for not getting called to 'Nam, it has haunted me for 40+ years now and I have had so many surgeries for tumors and bone problems to Type II diabetes and now to a serious blood disease very much like leaukemia but not cancer. I need treatments just like chemo and I take 23 prescription drugs to stay alive. So please, have NO regrets. BTW my draft lottery # was 352, I enlisted at 17, when I got home from Viet Nam I couldn't even buy a bottle of beer !!! GOD Bless !!!!

Hawks and Doves my friends, Hawks and Doves ...

I'm never quite sure, perhaps someone will enlighten me ? How does one tell the difference between a yankie, a doodle and a dandy ?
God Bless America, whatever it is.

When the song was written a Yankee doodle dandy was a well dressed colonist.

Thanks. I'm much obliged.
I didn't realize that Walmart had been in business for that long.

We learn something new every day. Hands across the sea, and all that .........

Per Wikipedia (not necessarily the most authoritative of sources):

Etymology
As a term Doodle first appeared in the early seventeenth century,[4] and is thought to derive from the Low German dudel or dödel, meaning "fool" or "simpleton". The Macaroni wig was an extreme fashion in the 1770s and became contemporary slang for foppishness.[5] The implication of the verse was therefore probably that the Yankees were so unsophisticated that they thought simply sticking a feather in a cap would make them the height of fashion.[6]

I like how during the colonial times they used this to make light of their stern British occupiers. A yankee doodle do or die is one of the lines. Good research btw.

The question should be are you getting along without us since the United States had to save your sorry butts from the mean old Nazis or you would have gone down in flames like the French.

HA HA HA some folks will believe anything.

'America(s)' is not a country : it's a continent. Often for geographical convenience divided into North America, Central America, and South America.

The former British colony, mainly situated between Mexico and Canada, is I understand, now known as the United States of America.

BTW - I keep meaning to ask, are you getting along, without too many difficulties, without us ? I'm sure you'll get the hang of self-governance, given another hundred years or so ....

There are still people who care, people who go to church, mayors and city councils that care. People who help others in disasters. Paramedics and firemen and policemen and soldiers who willingly put their lives on the line to make it safe for us.
Sorry you got caught up in some nasty stuff.
Better luck in the future.

One gets accustomed to it here on the HOGG, at times it's like going to a pig pen, but I don't really care to roll in some of the slop here.

Played a real nice little public course there one time, think it was called Fox Hollow.

All I can say is, holy crap!!! Sounds like Mattie and Pepperosa are back at it again under a new name. Same bigotry, different screen name.

Sounds like he is ready to pack his bags.
