What do you think is a fair price for a good condition Sony A900. My brother gave me a number of Minolta A lenses and a number of Minolta Maxxum 35mm cameras. I don't shoot film that much any more plus I have too many other 35mm cameras to use so I don't think I would use those Maxxum. I am thinking of getting an A900 to use those lenses. I checked Ebay and the prices seem to be at least $400-500 up to over $1000. Back in 2010 I could buy a brand new A900 for less than $2000 so may be I am wrong but I feel the prices for used ones now are too high. I would have bought the A900 back then if I had the A lenses and didn't have all the Nikkor's.

Thanks I am aware of the A850 but I much prefer the A900.

Yes, they seem to go from 500.00 to over a grand for a new one in a sealed box. It all depends on condition and presentation.

Way too high given you can get an a7 for about that price.

You have seen the prices and either you are willing to buy or make a counter offer. The "Fair" price is what ever the buyer and seller agree it is.

I never owned an a900 but there seems to be a very dedicated following and love for it. In particular people rave about it's viewfinder and colors (which some prefer over any other Sony camera produced).

Well I guess I am not going to get it then. Back in 2010 I liked it a lot but because I already have Nikon lenses and no Minolta lenses I didn't get it. The A900 was not a successful camera and thus the price new at that point was $1800 (for a camera introduced at over $3000) and has about the same performance as the Nikon D3x which was selling for $9000. But because it's a flopped, few of them were sold so now it's scare. But because I considered it I checked it out very carefully. It has very nice viewfinder and manual focusing with it is great. I like the exposure preview feature of it although it doesn't have live view and I didn't want live view any way.

Have you looked at the A99ii or A77ii?

I have an 850, and am interested in knowing what lenses you have, and may want to move.

Let me know if you decide to go down this track.

Thanks,

Glen

A99II and A77II? Sony calls them SLT but in reality they are closer to mirrorless as the translucent mirror is only used for AF.

First I don't want to move to Sony as I will continue to use Nikon. I want the A900 to make use of the A lenses. Among the Sony bodies that accept the A lenses only the A900 I would want.
I do not have any lenses considered to be good lenses but they are usable.
Minolta 50mm f/1.8
Minolta 24-35mm f/4.0
Minolta 70-210mm f/4.0
Sigma 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6
Tamron 70-210mm f/4.0-5.6
Quantaray 500mm f/8.0 mirror

Then it seems like you have to do your best to grab an A900 at the best possible price
