I’m looking at all these straps and thinking it may be time to move up from the Nikon that comes with the camera. Especially now that my daughter has her own camera and won’t be taking mine off my neck all the time :-) Are some of these in stock at places like Dodd camera so I can check them out in person?

I recently changed to Peak Design Slide Camera Strap. About a 2 inch strap the thickness of a seatbelt, very well made. I wanted to carry at the hip when hiking or moving thru the city. I wanted a wider strap at the neck. Much more comfortable than my traditional strap and very easy to pull up for a shot. I didn’t want to carry attached at the tripod screwin. We sometimes put on 10 miles or so a day with a camera around the neck and I didn’t want to risk damaging the camera bottom. A blue strap and a rust color to differentiate bodies.

I just wondered if you Hoggers had any other examples of little things that have proved to be very helpful to you or made photography more accessible for you .

Same here, great for walking around.

I use this wrist strap because sometimes I need my right hand free...

I love my Hoodman Loupe. It serves two purposes. 1) It blocks the sun to you can see your LCD screen 2) It has a diopter just like my camera so I can actually see the image without having to find my “readers”. :) Not as cheap as the hand strap (which I just purchased based on this thread) but I “never leave home without it”. :D

That's what on my camera and when I don't use the harness I use a simple loop cord that fits on the camera where the strap goes. I use that when I am riding in my husband's truck so I don't drop my camera.

I use a BlackRapid Sport and wrist strap with the Military QR from Really Right Stuff and a RRS L plate. Strong and very quick and flexible to use.

Some of the best money I have every spent on photography is for the ColorChecker Passport. That is a great tool for less than $100 if you shoot in RAW and want accurate color.

Best,
Todd Ferguson

I’ve been using a Canon leather hand strap “clutch” for several years now it’s great addition to all the accessories I use with my cameras. It’s a good thing you have found to use and no pain too.

For my D500 hand strap I use the Spider Holster Hand Strap:

For my shoulder strap I use Pro Media Gear Shulder strap and the why their strap hooks onto the camera is the best system I've found so far:

Vello Shutterboss II remote switch and digital timer. I haven't had it long but find I'm using it a lot for macro and landscape work. Under $50.

I tried a similar wrist support for my DLSR. I gave up as I tended to get cramps in my wrist especially while holding the camera in the shooting position. Just hanging from my wrist was okay. Since I sometimes want to take an extra lens or two and sometimes a speedlight, I went for a backpack. If I just want the camera with one attached lens, then I use a conventional over the shoulder strap. But people are very different. Glad the wrist strap worked for the OP.

Guess I'm just an old dinosaur but I use my wide Nikon neck strap and have since Nikon "F" days. The strap has a spare memory card taped on one side in the little case and the Nikon Remote trigger taped on the other side in it's little case.
(I try to keep my right hand free at all times for other reasons.)

Neck strap and short round body works best for me to steady shots when my back won't bend enough. Takes a few shots sometimes to adjust where the camera is pointing, but works well when I don't have my tripod and want to get lower shots.
