All magicmomentpics wanted to know was how much a lens was worth and here these "I'M CORRECT" twirps take off on some spelling bee making a major issue out of nothing. What harm did this person do spelling the word the way they wanted to? A very clear example of why the world is so screwed up with "critics" like these around.
I think $50 would be a good price for that lehndz too!!
Now that's the correct spelling- Good-One

I couldn't agree more, come on people!

"Lense" might be an acceptable spelling somewhere, but it is still wrong when used in conjunction with photography. If it were correct as some suppose, then you would see it used with that spelling in all photography books and magazine. However the reality is that you NEVER see it spelled this way in any photography books and magazines, regardless of what you find in some obscure explanation for the word's spelling on the internet.
Therefore if the word is always spelled as LENS in photography circles, don't you think it is about time that you finally accepted the fact that your idea of the spelling is wrong if you think it should be with an "E" at the end?
Any argument for an "E"is simply someone not wanting to face reality when speaking of a lens in the photography world. You know you are wrong, deep down, if you use the "E" at the end... ;-)

Most people actually. None of us want to sound dumb or stupid in front of strangers if we are honest about it. Well I can't speak for you of course, so if you don't care then we have that answer as well.
Also when speaking about an object in photography, using the correct word helps everyone understand what is being talked about. And an intelligent person will welcome correction when a wrong word is used. A stupid person probably will not like to be corrected. I'll leave the rest of the thinking along those lines, up to you to work out.

Lucien , Appears to have a problim with correct speling. Since we are not being graded for spelling on this forum I don't care if someone wants to spell lense with an E and really shoud not care if Loocian wants to spell lens without an E, but I just can't help it

Since it is such a common word in photography, you might expect that most people would know how to spell the word correctly. Interesting that these people seem to know how to spell camera and photography, yet a simple word like lens appears to throw the minority on here. Yes it is the minority who don't know how to spell that word and many others have spoken up in the past on several other postings, to help correct them. As I mentioned, it would be the more intelligent that would appreciate and welcome the correction. Of course a slip of the finger which placed the e there is another matter. We all make the thick finger typos from time to time which is easily discerned. However consistent misspelling means that a poster, anywhere on this site, would not know how to spell the word.
Good grief! Do you realize that internet language is different from English grammar??? That is why I can use 3 (yes, count them, 3) question marks at the end of my sentence. It is also why no one cares that YOU seem to routinely leave out commas.
See how it works?? We can write LOL and everyone knows what it means. ROFL? We all know what that means. But leaving out a comma? Seriously???? THAT could change, "My, but I'm hungry" to "My but I'm hungry". Go ahead - try it! You will see exactly what I mean.
If this thread wasn't so utterly ridiculous, it would be comical. Oh, wait - it IS comical.
The gist of the whole thing is this: If one desires a grammar lesson, that one should perhaps check with the local college. If one wishes to purchase a lens or lense or lenz or any other piece of photography equipment, that one should check UHH.

It's just the "dumbing down" of America. No one says anything and we accept it. It's too bad.
