I have noticed there are some cheap lenses for nikon aroumd 400 mm fairly cheap. cheaper than anything I can find in that range for pentax.
example £200 Tokina AT-X AF400mm F5.6 Prime Lens
I think I can get an adaptor to fit nikon lenses to my pentax ks2, has anyone any knowledge, regarding if this works and is the lens I have seen any good. orany good alternatives.
I am quite happy to manual focus auto aperture is important though.
thank you for any thoughts.

No way of knowing how good the lens you saw is, but the one I bought new has excellent image quality, very comparable with the 400 f/5.6 Nikkor ED.
Edit: This is the only adapter I am aware of, and it won’t suit your purpose. Nikon mount lenses are best suited for use on Nikon bodies.

I think it will be tricky, off the top of my head i think the registration distance for Nikon is 0.4mm longer than for Pentax thats very little room for an adapter. So thats either no infinity focus or a glassed adapter to increase the focal length. If infinity focus isn't needed, its simpler.

thank you.
I thought canon lenses were not possible but hoped nikon ones would be. But I found there is a pentax version of this lens, they just dont come up for sale as often, guess i will have to be patient

I don't know what kind of aperture control is used by this lens, but I can't imagine any adapter that would provide aperture control; with the exception of the most recent KAF4 mount, aperture control on Pentax cameras has been idiosyncratic and mechanical - not easy to handle in an adapter.

i tried the other way , using pentax lenses on nikon D300 .using a fotodiox adapter [ $ 50,00 ] fits fine , but in bright sunlight end up with a halo in center of picture [ sun in back ].just got a used pentax dlsr to solve that problem .it did not mater what type of lens used .
