I like the Idea of using a single prime for the portability and sharpness. I have been using the 50mm 1.2L on my FF but wand a bit wider and more versatile image size. From what I read I think it will be sharper and get the image size I want for street and automotive photography.
I would be interested in what others have experienced with the new version II and maybe an image post ? ...
I would take a serious look at the Sigma as well, unless you are a Canon or nothing guy.
I made the switch from 50 to the 35 canon lense and never regretted it. The 35mm f1.4 ll. I found that the Lense is very sharp, you might want to look at sigma also. Good luck
How is it possible for you guys to get shots without a super zoom lens on your camera??? Travesty I say, Travesty!!!

LOL... The best advice you ever gave to me sarg was to get a fast prime lens, in that case it was a 50mm for a crop.
I have that Canon 35mm lens. It's wonderful. I had it parked on my camera a lot this Summer. Great for Environmental portraits.
It is SO sharp.

I used the 35mm as my "normal" back in my PJ days when I worked for a newspaper.
Zooms were few and not very many were good.
Great choice on the length, but I used an f/2. (Nikon)
Got me looking now as I've been considering getting a few good primes.
