Outdoor Photography magazine. The articles and photo equipment are slanted towards the wildlife and landscape photographer.

National Geographic and Life are and were the best photo magazines. In the internet age, most print magazines are dieing. On line, there is little need for a dedicated site. Youtube and dPreview cover most of the photography field.

In the US I only read Outdoor Photographer. It's more thoughtful than gear related. When in the UK I always grab Outdoor Photography and think it is one of the best around. I'm told it is expensive to subscribe from the US but I may do it anyway.

N-Photo magazine got my attention recently when I picked it up to review at a book store. Ended up with the E Edition for convenience and cost. Read it on an I Pad anywhere. As a Nikon user there is more hands on in that magazine.
I like Outdoor Photographer too. Will probably go for the E Edition on that one to for convenience next opportunity.

First off, I do not subscribe to printed magazines. They always arrived mangled in the post, and frankly are a waste of paper and resources. I read everything on an iPad with Zinio. That being said, the three I subscribe to are:

Outdoor Photography
Shutterbug
N-Photo (UK publication)

What is nice about Zinio is I can go back years and review past publications without hassling with boxes of dusty magazines.

Beginning at age 12 I subscribed to Popular Photography. My first stop in each issue was Jason Schneider’s vintage camera column. For some reason I never found other magazines as captivating—well, Shutterbug Ads...mainly to price Schneider’s camera of the month.
I left the profession in the early ‘90’s and dropped my subscriptions. Upon returning 10-years ago I found myself reading blogs, Google-searching and You-tubing to the point the magazines seemed moot. Interestingly I found Ugly Hedge Hog during a Google search for photo mags. I do miss my monthly Jason Schneider fix.

I subscribe to LFI, the Leica Fotografie International journal, English version, which arrives sealed and not mangled, mailed in Germany. High quality printing, skilled photographers using Leica equipment on worldwide assignments of great variety. You could call it a geographic magazine. Very little space for advertising, other than detailed descriptions of new and old Leica equipment. The lfi-online website includes a gallery which demonstrates the photography which Leica promotes.

I don't read any but if there were a photo magazine devoted specifically to film, and didn't just become a gear-whore-machine, I'd subscribe.

Silvershotz. Yes, I've learned from it, but not directly. Expensive, but valuable. There's another European publication that is quite good, but again pricey. I only read that at the book store and don't remember the name off hand.

Outdoor Photographer is the only photo magazine I currently subscribe to. It has always been head and shoulders above the rest of the American publications as far as I'm concerned. My studio has always been the great outdoors. I have every issue ever published.
