You have an 810 and are crying for an 850? Uh huh.
Just to let you know Jim Bob I do not have a Nikon 810. Where do you get this at?
Thank you for finding the info I was looking for. Roberts camera is 325 miles from me so it's not local. The closest camera shop to me is 75 miles away in Milwaukee, Wi.

It seem that you can't find one right now. I was thinking the Nikon D810 because find them. Anybody own one? I found a Nikon D850 on Ebay but I can't trust them on being a USA camera.
Yes, delivery has been a problem, with some smaller stores getting them before the bigger places. Some info as of Jan 1 below.

That's a great question. I guess a lot of people think that will improve their photography. Most probably haven't exceeded the capabilities of their current camera.

Why are so many people impatient about getting the D850 camera? I have to have it Right Now. Or else? It will be in abundance in just a few months. By late Springtime. Use what you have until it is available. Patience is a Virtue. It reminds me of the Tickle Me Elmo Toy sold many years ago. Buyers paid high Black Market prices to get one by Christmas.

Thanks Bob. I was wondering when someone was going to point this out.

I sold my D810 and got a D850. The image quality between them is negligible and the D810 may even be slightly better in my view because of noise. The D850 is more feature rich but if they are of little interest the D810 is a much better buy, particularly if you find a slightly used one.
Also the file sizes of the D810 are more computer and editing software friendly.
Overall I have no regrets with this upgrade but the noise is disappointing.

Most of us will not exceed the capabilities of our current camera. That does not mean we should be denied the pleasure of experiencing a new, improved camera.
Life, for many, is more than about absolute need.

Sorry about that. I was thinking about another thread.

While I'm not rushing in, I do hope it will help my pathetic BIF percentage of keepers. While the D500 gives me plenty of reach I always have trouble either keeping the bird in the frame, or keeping them where I want them in the frame. Being able to crop from full frame and still have a fairly high resolution image should help.
I know they say practice makes perfect, but after practicing for so many years and not being smart enough to give up, I'll take all the help I can get.

I ordered on the 10th December and had it 17th from Amazon. A week later I sold my D810 for $1750.00 on eBay. Started the auction at $1259.00. 13 bids later. Was bid up to 1650 and then the last minute bid to 1750. How do you like them apples (that's not a question)
For a smaller store, try a place where I’ve been buying my camera gear at for 30+ years in Kent, Ohio near Kent State University .... a family run business .... their pricing has been competitive with the big stores .... and they are patient with customers like me with a lot of questions:
Campus Camera & Imaging
Ask for Dan Demshar ..... (son of the owner)
Phone: (330)Â 678-1297
Address:
1645 E. Main St.
Kent OH 44240
I used to work at the next town east of there. When I upgrade, that is where I will go. They have several employees who are good, but Dan is the one who I go to.
In the mean time just buy expensive lenses to use with it...😎 They are always available 😎

In November I had been "on the list" with B&H for a few weeks but found out it really didn't matter unless I gave them a deposit. I went to a local store, gave them a fully refundable deposit and had my D850 the next week. Probably just a lot of luck...
" I can wait but just have the want for one. Right now I have the Olympus OM-1 and Nikon D750."
With all due respect, you have two excellent cameras. The D750 (I have used it but I do not own it) has 24 Mp. which are enough pixels to satisfy anyone. The OM-1 has 17 very capable megapixels, based on a sensor that has been modified with each new model. Do you need 47 Mp.? Those are a lot of pixels.
I cannot understand the tendency to own "the best and the latest" instead of owning "what I need." I am not criticizing your decision but calls my attention that you are using two excellent cameras and you do not seem to be satisfied with them.
I have always recommended to use what we have if we do not need new features that could make our photography easier, perhaps you do. More megapixels is not among my favorite features and as a matter of fact the camera that has more megapixels, my Nikon D610, is the one that sees less use.
Please, do not misunderstand me. I have nothing against a person who believes a new camera with more megapixels will change his photography although I admit it is hard for me to understand it.
I just bought one last week from Abt (abt.com)> Shipped next day.
