The Tam is just too damn inconsistent. Or maybe it’s me. Here’s a hand-held shot with the Tam/D7100. Guess it will do in a pinch.

I haven't shot mine enough to be too critical. It does appear to possibly be a little softer than the 200-500 and the focus speed stinks in comparison. I'll shoot it if it ever gets above freezing again and send it in for a check up.

It’s slow to acquire focus and the image stabilization is just not that great.

Looks good to me! BTW, my wife commandeered my D7100 when I got the 810 and she is quite pleased after taking a couple thousand shots with the 18-400. It's a little soft but she loves the versatility when hiking.
