I now own a Nikon D3000 and a 1V1(I obviously keep my cameras for a while) and am ready for an upgrade.I am thinking either a D500 or a D750.I already have a sigma 300ml zoom for an FX camera and will buy a kit with lenses for either. Since the cost is not that much different which would serve me better.thanks

The one that you like the best. Since you do not list what you shoot, it is a coin toss as to which will serve you best.

It depends on the pictures you plan to take. Know that the D750 has only about 10MP on the DX area, while the D500 twice that. Also the D500 is much faster so if sports or wildlife are your thing its the choice. I also would like the lighted buttons.

For landscape, the D750 is a better choice.

That won't even hold a 12 oz beer. If you're out for a while, look for a lens that holds a six pack!

Since you gave us no information on which to help with a decision, ask yourself why you feel you need to upgrade. If you can answer that the community might be able to assist.

Can't recommend because each of us are different. If I were to pick between the 2? I would pick the D750 as it's cheaper.

My impression is that the 750’s have a more robust build. I bought 2, they are a deal.

As others mentioned, you cannot go wrong with either camera. Your selection will be based on your needs.

I upgraded from D7000 to D750 a few years ago. I can tell you my thoughts on that:
1. If you consider photography a serious hobby, and visit sites like UHH often, you will continue to be looking at the DX vs FX debates. Sooner or later you will conclude that you need a FX camera. That thirst will not go away. Now is probably a good time to buy FX over DX, considering the pricing differences.
2. I have been extremely happy with my D750. With a couple of exceptions:
- the D750 is heavier and bulkier than the D7000, and likely the D7500. Together with FX vs DX lenses the weight/size difference is very obvious. If you want to travel light, DX would be better.
- the DX crop factor longer reach is very noticeable through the viewfinder. My 300mm becomes 450. My 150-600 can reach 900. Does make a big difference for wild life and BIF.

I believe the contrarry: the D500 is more robust. It is the reason they give for eliminating the pop-up flash. Compare the weights.

Well after reading comments I will say that I like to shoot nature but my wife likes to do photos so it looks as though I need to give up and buy both and just give her one.lol

As you know, you are talking about two different camera bodies. Your present lenses will fit the D500 to perfection while with the D750 you will have to buy FX lenses if you want optimal performance.
Which one is best? Depends on what you shoot.

I like my D750, but look at some comparison sites.

Read comparisons and specs, and decide what features are important to you.

That's one of those questions you will have answer yourself depending on your needs, budget, and personal preferences.
