I have a general knowledge of photography,,,could someone. Tell me what setting I need to use to be able to enlarge any of my photos. Thank You in advance.

I’m going to assume that you don’t have a printer large enough to begin with, or am I wrong? What printer do you use?

If you save a good photo in tiff and give it to a commercial printer they can usually do what's needed to size it for printing. In tiff format the file will probably need to be at least 5 or 10 megabytes. That's as non-technical as I can get.

No printer big enough. I take my photos to a nearby lab

I shot in RAW so how do I convert to a tiff format and how do I ensure I have 5 to 10 mg? is that something you adjust on your camera.

Thanks

I don't think the 60D has the horsepower to really produce a QUALITY
photograph of the size you want. Get a 5DSR.

I use Photoshop for all of this sort of things so it's easy with that software to convert and resize as needed. If software came with your camera you can usually use that or get a free program, like GIMP, and do a "save as" into tiff. I don't think any commercial printer will take a raw file but they would take jpg, tiff or something like that.
File size wise just shoot as large as the camera will do.

Merry Christmas, Jim. The DPP software that came with the camera can be used to convert to TIFF (export as TIFF, actually, would be better as the RAW file is not "converted" or changed) as well as to make various adjustments.

Yes, there is an adjustment in the camera for size of the file. I am not sure what the options are with the 60D and could not quickly find it online - check your manual - but on my 5d Canon offers three file size options for RAW.

I’d talk to the lab. They will know.

Hola senor!

This size photo was printed from a 16mp m4/3 sensor. I mean the seascape photo in the back on the wall

The key is how is the photo to be viewed? If folks can walk right up to it then it needs to be better than if it's on a billboard or viewed from 20 or 30 feet away.

Is that true? People naturally stand back to view large images, and move closer for smaller images, I think.

Ah, Ricardo gives you the perfect solution. Just run down to your nearest camera store and plunk down your 3 grand or so and you can do what you want. 😱😱 Seriously a 18 mp camera can do what you ask under certain circumstances. Check out this website for a discussion on your problem 😊😁

He did not ask whether or not he should do it, he asked how.

Jim, I'm sure you'll get lots of info.
Just be aware that 36x60 is not a 2:3 aspect ratio and will involve cropping. You don't want to crop away what few pixels you have.
2:3 is 40x60 or multipliers of either of those. Good luck
