Yes - very good presentation of mining - yes you are right an upward working is called a "stope" and those cloth ventilation tubes were used close to the blasting area because the concision of blasting collapse the light metal tubes use to bring it in most of the way. Blasting the "round" in a pattern is needed to get the best results - a pattern is like a shooting target - the bulls eye goes off first followed by the other rings timed a few seconds apart - fuse burns at 5 second per inch so it was easy to measure the time - electric primers are color coded as well as being identified by their length.
