I have owned this lens for about two years and have used it extensively (see my Dunlin shots in the photo section below). In my experience coupled with a Nikon D500, the Sigma C 150x600 lens takes terrific images if you can achieve locked focus on your subject. This is rarely an issue with stationary subjects but with fast moving birds I think the lens does tend to struggle to lock focus a bit. More so than my Nikon 80x400MM lens as a comparison. I am not disappointed in this lens and have gotten two years of good use out of it. However, if I was purchasing a 150x600MM lens today, I would take a hard look at the Tamron G2 before making my purchase. It's a few dollars more, but the reviews I have read are mostly positive.

I use it with the Canon 80D. I believe the D500, like the 80D, holds AF to f8 but at a reduced number of points. I sometimes back down to 500mm to improve AF. Also, have you set customized AF limits using the USB Hub to match your shooting? I have two custom settings to accommodate closer birds and birds at greater distances. It reduces the amount of hunting and has upped my keeper rate..

I just bought one and am learning to use it on my Sony A6000 - so far, so good!
By the way, it's considerably lighter than the sports version.

Not if you want the current price point. Once you make a major purchase, never, ever read ads for 60 days. You'll only be annoyed. However, wait a few weeks for the after Xmas no tax sales.

I am a retired Professional, ( Master Photographer), but I am 74. I purchased this lens (Canon) to photograph birds and wildlife. I love the lens and used it on
one trip in my Motorhome only. I found it to be to heavy for ME. (remember my age). The results were superb, photos of ducks in a pond and some other things
turned out sharp, good contrast and saturation. If I were younger, which I do not think I am getting, I will keep the lens but I decided to selling it after 3 months, instead of keeping it in my closet. I never used it handheld, but in my tripod is excellent. I paid 989.00, but If I take it in a walk, it will be to heavy for my back including all the other gear. I just listed it on Ebay.

I purchased the Contemporary last January and love it. Got some great wildlife shots last spring and summer with it on my D7200. I shoot mostly hand held and had no trouble with the size of the lens. It is a bit heavy to carry any distance considering both it and the D7200 are bit on the heavy side. I am on a lake and often see birds and wildlife out on the ice or in the water and it brings them in nicely from my deck.

agree especially about the light. I have had the 150-500 (bought it a few weeks before the 150-600 came out) and yes it is heavy to lug around looking for the right wild life shot.

Yes, but do not trust them, they engage according to report on the web, in Deceiving practices and bad customer service. B&H and Adorama are the most reputable places tpo buy from.
