My cannon pro 100 printer is leaving black line on the leading edge of my photos. I have attached a photo and have circled the area in question. Any ideas on how to fix it would be appreciated

Have you tried bottom plate cleaning?
It looks like you have ink inside your printer from leaking cartridges.
You may need to clean the insides, all the surfaces the paper goes over and the rollers that advance the paper.
Ditto the cleaning. You can find at OfficeDepotStaplesMax (they are all the same) single use ink jet cleaning sheets that will do the job. At one point, you either started a print job without paper or something leaked.
Looks like the printhead is striking the paper.
What paper are you using? Is the paper flat?
For thick art papers I recommend using "prevent paper abrasion" in the advanced section of the print utility.

It's amazing how much ink can accumulate inside a printer. I've taken mine apart a couple of times - wear latex gloves and cover the work area with newspaper of plastic!
Have you run the printer's cleaning program?
I will try the above mentioned cleaning paper first as I am really good at taking things apart but not very good at putting them back together..
Thanks
I will looking how to do this. Thanks
Thanks I have ordered some cleaning paper.
I tend to agree with spaceylb - it looks like an uneven l-r (or r-l) smear. If it were a roller I would expect evenly spaced smears. I would suspect the paper, it appears like there is some buckling or waviness at the leading edge. Possible the printer is causing the paper to buckle, I guess. Looked inside my Pro100 and didn't see much that could cause it but I'm not gonna take it apart just to check
And, cleaning is never a bad idea.
Also ink buildup on the printhead would do it, but I would try different, fresh paper and cleaning before removing the printhead (I have not done that to mine since I bought it so don't know what you might find) You could check with Jose Rodriguez (youtube canon printer guru) and ask him about taking out the printhead.
Search your electronic manual for abrasion, it should bring up three possibilities. Check the "Paper is Smudged." I had the same problem and found that "Check 4" corrected my problem.
I'm using canon photo paper plus glossy II. It says it is 10.6mil, .27mm. I've used it before and it has worked fine.
Has the paper curled or rippled due to humidity or other factors?
Paper that is not perfectly flat can show these problems also.
