it sure is upsetting to learn of stuff like this. I never use a credit card at a gas station and generally use my ATM card at the bank where my accounts are.
Thanks for posting. I will send this link to my email contacts.
Scary. It looks like they use double-sided tape to hold them in place. Pulling one off could take some effort. As for trying to find a tiny camera, good luck with that!
One defense would be to pay inside if the slot looks suspect. Station owners ought to show what their scanners look like on the pump.
Usually the skimmers are put on the high traffic stations close to major highways. Your banks ATM’s May very well be victims of this as well. The bad guys have overlays that fit over the face of the bank machine, read your card data off the mag stripe and record your keystrokes to get your PIN number. Always give any devices a good pull to make sure it isn’t an overlay, check for a small hole in any fascia above where the keypad is. And at gas stations use the pump that is most visible to the store clerk not the ones on the outside. The sooner all the mag stripe stuff is replaced will be a welcome relief, the CHIP is still very secure.

Think I'm gonna keep a hand full of twenties in my wallet just for purchasing gas. Can't even trust the register operators, had a local cought steeling card info
Servicing gas pumps for 20+ years in the Southern CA area I have never seen an external card skimmer such as in the Video. All those that I have found were inside the pump connected to the card reader cable. Best advice is Pay Inside and personally use the inside card reader if you must use a card.
