LR photo count question

When I click on All Photographs...the folder shows 94016 pictures. On the tool bar at the bottom of the screen it says "All Photographs 85459 of 94016 photos". No filters being used.
94016 less 85459 is 8557. What explains the difference in these numbers? Thanks

I just noticed this myself.
I don't know, but it could be the the 94016 is total images and 85459 is total unique images.
I frequently end up with four copies of the same image through different steps in processing.

I rarely make a copy of an image.....pretty sure I haven't made 8557 copies........????

Do you have stacked images? For simple numbers, say your LR says the "All Photographs" view of the Catalog says: 9 of 10. Find that one stacked image. (Or, select all images and expand all stacks.) If you expand the stack in the All Photographs view, the count should go to 10 of 10. This assumes you have no filters active when viewing All Photographs. I have a much more higher and complex count. But, the first stack I expanded increased by +1 the value of 'x' when viewing my x of y photos. In fact, expanding all stacks changed the count from x of y to y of y within my LR desktop ...

Just did a quick test, in my case it is the stacks.
I do a lot of focus stacking and I stack all of the images shot for the focus stack once I've don the edits.

Not all files are photos. Some of your files may be .xmp files.
