That is an amazing goldfinch. According to my bird book they have been introduced in the US but are rare. The ones we have here are much more yellow but have none of the red. Really gorgeous bird. Thanks for posting this.

I was unfamiliar with Guernsey Island until I read a wonderful little novel a few years back entitled "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" which concerned the period of World War II history when the island came under Nazi occupation. The book speaks to the resilience and ingenuity of the island's inhabitants during that dark period.
Your bird photos are quite good. I shoot with a 7D as well and as much as I enjoy viewing nature photography, just don't seem to have the patience that it requires. Hope you would post some more of your fine work.

Hi, there is a huge interest in the USA in this book, and a film is to be made. Both my parents spent the war on the island so knew first hand what the occupation was like.
