I have a Nikon D3400 with lenses that are good enough to take decent pictures. I want to take a step up camera-wise. What Nikon should I be looking at? Moneywise, I have about $1500 to spend. I mostly take street/urban photos but enjoy photographing wildlife when I get the rare chance.

Look for a Nikon factory refurbished D7200 or D7500 and save some money. Recently, a factory refurbished D7200 could be had for about $750. With the money you save, you could add a lens or just congratulate yourself on saving some cash. Check out Cameta Camera, as they offer another 9 months warranty to the Nikon 90 warranty on their factory refurbished units. That said, I yet have had to use a warranty for repairs in the first few years of ownership.

D500 is on special for $1796 w/free battery grip ($400). Best Cropped Sensor (DX) camera in existence . . . Go for D500, you won't be sorry . . .

I would agree with those that recommend the D7200 which (I think) can be had for $ 800 if you ack quickly. The D500 would actually be my first choice (which is also on special at the moment I think), but that's a few hundred over your stated amount. Best of luck.

I wanted to upgrade from my D80 earlier this year. I did some research and decided on a refurbished D7200. I found on from Cameta Camera for $699 (body only). I've been pleased with it and I have added some other lenses. It has been a fun new "retirement job/hobby". Good luck and good hunting.
