That is a killer cliff (in more ways than one) in a beautiful, well composed photo. The lighthouse is a nice addition to the cliff and ocean.

Wow, really nice Geoff. Looks like a good place to go cliff diving.

Especially if Wylie Coyote hands you an anvil just as you step off.

I like the shot, the lighthouse gives it balance and also adds perspective.

Love it. My grandfather has a similar picture taken through a pair of fieldglasses 1940 from France. How times change for the better.

Thanks hpkott, Im not sure if you would see the French coast from here even with a pair of bins, so I would imagine your Grandfathers shot was taken nearer Dover, about 60 miles east of here, --It would be interesting to see the picture and try and work out where he was?

Interesting contrast in your photo. Like the composition where you've captured the differences of the high cliff and low lighthouse. Quite nice. Wonder why light house wasn't built on high cliff?

I have to look for it but I cannot promise since this was quite a few years ago. My grandfather has been dead some time and I have since moved to the States.

Thanks Tp, there are phones around and more importantly there is a constant Chaplin presence along the cliffs, they travel around in a Landrover and work closely with the coastguard to watch for jumpers, but sadly it doesn't always work as being a major beauty spot for visitors from all along the world the vast majority of deaths are from mostly younger students being fearless and falling over, they also say about 10 or more dogs go over each year.
