Does it have a clock too? Is that working? If yes, check the switch for the light. Probably a manual switch, not a door-operated one.

Yes. Everything works but the door-activated light. The light switch on top works, so that will have to do.

But....but...but....can you use a L.E.D. bulb in there to prevent global ovenning?

I thought of using an LED, but they're not recommended for high heat environments - like the oven or the earth 1,000 years from now.

Jerry,

Look at the contact where the base of the bulb contacts inside the oven. Usually this is a spring-type of contact. First, use a small screwdriver to pry the contact out slightly and see if the bulb lights. Next, see if the contact is corroded, and if it is, clean it up with fine sandpaper and a shot of WD40. Better yet is a product that does magic for electrical contacts:

Hope it helps!

I tried cleaning it with alcohol on a rag, but, bBoy!, 120 volts can give you quite a jolt! I'll have to use my left hand next time, unless the fingers on my right hand start moving again.

Jerry, you can have my stove, it's a bit stodgy looking, I haven't cleaned the inside for 5 years, but the oven light works wonderful! Let me be the first generous caring UHH'er on the list! Maybe everyone will donate a stove and your problems will be over?

I would ask the obverse question: how many bulbs does it take to change a hedgehog.

After many years, the light in our oven stopped lighting. After using a flashlight for a week or so, I bought a pack of two bulbs. I had to be careful not to put my fingers into the live socket, but I finally got the bulb in. Still not lighting. I tried the other bulb, with the same result. Apparently, there is another problem. I didn't see a button on the doorframe, so I'll have to investigate.

Reminds me of the popular(?) joke. How many photographers does it take to change a lightbulb? Now's your chance to come up with a funny answer.

A better question would be, How many UHH members does it take to change a lightbulb.

And how many Hoggers dose it take to change a light blub? One never knows. I think four but I guess we will have to stay in the dark we can never get four of us in the same spot at the same time.
