If its a gas oven, check the circuit for the electricity that powers the light. The breaker may have tripped off!

Does it have a clock too? Is that working? If yes, check the switch for the light. Probably a manual switch, not a door-operated one.

But....but...but....can you use a L.E.D. bulb in there to prevent global ovenning?

Great posts!

It looks like I'll have to buy a new stove, and the good ones cost around $2,000. Poor me. : (

Actually, I can find nothing on the door or door frame that would control the light. The door removes easily, so it can't be a mercury switch inside the door. I'll have to pull the stove out and check the socket. Yes, I did read the manual, but it has nothing about a door switch.

Partial solution! I just checked the switch on the stove's control panel, and that turns the light on! So, wherever that door switch is, it's not working. What a relief. The thought of tying a new stove to the roof of my Honda Fit was making me nervous.

Jerry,

Look at the contact where the base of the bulb contacts inside the oven. Usually this is a spring-type of contact. First, use a small screwdriver to pry the contact out slightly and see if the bulb lights. Next, see if the contact is corroded, and if it is, clean it up with fine sandpaper and a shot of WD40. Better yet is a product that does magic for electrical contacts:

Hope it helps!

You have missed one out. To assert oven lights never broke until Donald Trump became President.
