Just looking for input on wide angel lenses people like. Looking at the Canon 16-35. Would like something in the 10mm range, but the price! I have some Tamron lenses for my crop sensor
but now that I have the 5D Mark IV they do not work on the full frame... I'm open to brands other than Canon, just don't have experience with any other brands.

I have a Tamron 10-24mm lens (The new Version). It is excellent and after seeing results of critical testing, I concluded that it is better than the similar Nikon lenses.
The lens is available in Nikon and Canon mounts. This is crop sensor lens. I would not hesitate to buy a quality Sigma or Tamron lens but do your homework as the choice varies from lens to lens.

Tamron 24-70 Di is just about perfect.

The Tamron is a good lens at a low price.

Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 DG HSM II for $949.00 seems like a good deal. They recently put out an Art series version close to $1,500 as well.

Tamron SP 15-30mm F2.8 VC, you CANNOT beat it! And the 6 year warranty is a deal closer.
If wider is needed then Sigma makes a great 12-24mm ART lens.

BTW, your crop sensor Tamron lenses WILL work on your 5D MK IV body, they will just vignette a little on the wide end of the zoom is all.

I posted some images this morning from Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia, all shot with the 16-35 f/4L IS and an EOS 5D3. I love this lens and have trouble imagining what I'd need wider than 16mm image-wize on a full frame. An even less likely need, an aperture wider than f/4 for wide-angle work. After cropping a 10mm lens was giving you the field of view of 16mm on a full frame ....

👍👍 the 16-35 f4L IS is one excellent lens (and tack sharp), and as CHG_Canon said, (unless you’re into astrophotography), how often do you need anything faster than f4 for the type of shots you usually use a wide angle for, and how often do you need anything wider - I never have. If I didn’t already have a 17-40L, I’d be purchasing one.

The IS is what moved me off the older 17-40L, another great lens and a bargain in the L lineup. Doing a mental inventory, probably a third of my lenses are IS-enable. You don't need IS / VR / VC that much in a wide angle, but I can use it in low light in situations well beyond my ability to hand hold. I can also hold the camera in unsteady angles and use the IS to capture some interesting angles. As a rather old design, look for used 17-40L copies rather than full-priced new.

I agree with the 16-35 f4 IS and use one with my 5DIII.
Great lens, light weight and at a great price now.

I used the Tokina 11-16mm on a crop body, and now I use the Tokina 16-28mm on a full frame. They offer good value for the money.

The Canon EFS 10/22mm. is a superb lens. At the 10mm. setting you will get an equivalent VIEWING ANGLE (field of view) to 16mm. on a full frame. Check how the price compares with other models. Many full frame owners were disappointed they could not use this lens when it was introduced.

Won't work on a full frame body.

EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Refurbished $949.99. It is not the III, but is still pretty good at less than half the price.
