My favorite SLR:s are Pentax LX and Pentax 67II, my favorite DSLR:s are Pentax K1 and Pentax 645Z. Some of the 67-lenses are fantastic with the 645Z and some of the old Takumar/Pentax-lenses are great with the K1.

I wanted to go didital. Went to my favorite Camera store. I saw a photograph I really liked on their wall. It was a 30 x 40 image. I asked what Camera was used and what lens. It was a D70 with a 70-300 mm lens. I bought both. Had it been a Canon I would have bought that. Now many cameras later I’m glad with my choice. I have since sold both the D70 and that lens.

Thanks Chris. I am in regional Queensland, which means a small population spread over a vast area. Which means, what you guys can do in the States is not always practical where I am located. But thanks anyway, and maybe an Aussie poster on this site can point me in the right direction.

Minolta SRT-101 , then bought a Minolta X-700 fourteen years later . The Rokkor lenses are hard to beat . Superb glass , fast and well built . Can’t wait for the new Ecktachrome to come out , so I can get these cameras back in action again ! I used to shoot Kodachrome 25 & 64 but the Ecktachrome is a good slide film too .

Yes, it is .... and you can still process it yourself in E-6 .... 56 minutes start to finish!

My favorite slr was a Canon F1. Lost it in a fire and found a used Nikon F photomic which I still have. I also liked my F3 a lot, also I still have. My favorite DSLR simply because it's my newest is a D200 (don't laugh too hard).

Hi Chris, my fav camera is still my Mamiya 1000s Pro, 645 format. Went all through the UK with it. Sure it was a challenge to always change film rolls, but it was ok. My camera to date, which i also enjoy is a Canon 60 D which went through Italy and Israel.
Rich...

Great camera ... I used to use the RB67 ... had two of 'em, through the years ... also, a Mamiya Universal (645,6x6, 6x7, 6x9) ....

Now, I use a Pentax 6x7 - when I want to use film ... I also have the 60D ... fantastic camera !!!!

Can you show us one or two, you shot with it, in Italy, and Israel, Rich?

Favorite film was a Canon F-1. I still have it and couldn't part with it for the pittance I'd get for it on eBay. Had 3 nice prices of glass, a 300 5.6 (I think), an 80-200 zoom, and a 55 F 1.4 (I think). I'll have to go up in the attic and drag it all out just for old time's sake. The kit was courtesy of Canon when they first became "official" NFL gear and I was working on the program for the league. This was when Nikon was the undisputed king of the sidelines. I like to think I had a little part of Canon's coup. Now I shoot a Nikon D610 and love it but not as much as I'll love the D850 when it comes my way.

I don't blame ya, NoSocks ... the F1 was a classy camera!!! .... Keep it for Old Time's Sakes!!!

Lots of folks waiting for their new D850, huh? ....

Seems to be the "in" DSLR to have!!! .... 46MP!!!! .... but, you pay for it! .... $3300 !!!! .... still, you could buy TWO, for the price of ONE D5 !!!

I started with Minolta's XG-M then moved went to Minolta's Maxxum 800si one of the first to use cards for different features which I still use today. In the DSLR I held off until 2009 and started with the Nikon D60, in 2014 I went to the D7100 and just this week the D810.

Me, too ... well ... my first dig cam was in 2010, actually - a Fuji HS-10 ... then went to first DSLR a year later - the Canon EOS Rebel T3 ....

Now, a dozen more later ... last was the D7100 .... just like you ....

And now you've graduated into FX, huh?

Good Move, K!!!!!

Mine was a Pentax Spotmatic. I started off in 1949 with a plastic Winpro 35mm made in Webster NY shooting Kodachrome 10. I could only shoot in bright sunlight as it had only one setting and that was 1/50 sec at F8. But it shot real good photos under those conditions and I still have them looking like new.
from that I went to a Kodak Pony 135, a Bolsey B2, a Exacta VX2A, the Spotmatic, And on up ending with a Nikon FM2. I now use a nikon D610 and all my old lenses still work. (In a fashion).

And how does your D610 compare with the old FM2, Jim? .... Handling-wise, feature-wise, performance-wise, etc...

Aside from ISO improvement ... as all DSLRs are a marked improvement in that regard over film cameras ....

My first was a Pentax KX I bought in Germany while in the Army in 1976 and what a workhorse it was! We took a trip back over there in 1998 and I was still shooting the same old haunts with the same camera. I would still have it today if I hadn't lost the battery compartment screw plug. I never could find a replacement.

As for DSLRs, I currently shoot a Pentax K3 and love it. The only trouble is that it is smarter than I am and it overwhelms me with capabilities. Anybody else feel that way?

My favorite SLR was an Olympus OM-4T. I currently use a Fujifilm X-T1 and it is almost like coming full circle after using a few Nikon dSLRs after over a decade. The X-T1 is a smaller sized body (like the OM bodies were in their day) and well built.

And how does the Fuji X-T1 compare with your old Oly OM-4T, Aragorn?

Aside from ISO capability ... what do you like best about it, compared to the Oly ... and least?

And how does it compare with your new D500?

Nikon F3, if limited to 35mm format which I still own, but actually favorite SLR was a Hasselblad 503CW. I miss having focusing aids in the viewfinder.

Yes, I guess a lot do .... split-prism, particularly ...

The F3 was a beaut, huh, Cyta?

I had one, too ....

Even used a 500 C for a while ....

What do you have now, for a DSLR, Cyta? ... how does it compare with the F3?
